There is quite a bit of negativity on this thread at the moment. As far as I am concerned, the SP2000 is a wonderful DAP. I recently bought a SanDisk Extreme PRO 2TB card and this works just fine. I also stream with Apple Music without issues and use the SP2000 as a DAC streaming off my iPad. I know there are issues with Tidal but Tidal is in financial trouble and its owner Block has scaled back investment and warned of further layoffs.

These days I primarily use my SP2000 as a streamer to my Yggdrasil DAC. Just everything becomes much more dynamic, musical, resolving and engaging as opposed to just using a PC with a decrapifier for streaming

There's the NP Audio SP2000 4.4mm modification, with the added benefit of open android.

NPAudio - Astell & Kern SP2000 4.4mm Pentaconn + unlocked Android modification
I sent mine to NP audio few months ago, nice work!

I prefer this more than new SP3000 series actually.

no issues on tidal

Please: Is anyone having an issue with the newest macOS update? I did the update last week and since then whenever I try to use my SP2000 as a DAC its stopping or bitcrushing or not recognizing it. If anyone has any tip I would be grateful. Thanks.

Hi, I checked with my friend who owns SP2000, and we discovered that the line-out voltage indicators on the second and third rolls are showing incorrect readings. The second roll should indicate 1.25V for Unbalanced and 2.5V for Balanced. However, it currently shows 1.5V for Unbalanced and 3V for Balanced. Based on the voltage output, the second roll's readings are lower than those of the third roll, which I verified with the amplifier's volume output.

When I select the output voltage at 2.5V (Balanced) and click on the second roll, which indicates 3V for Balanced, the screen displays 3V. Similarly, when I select 3V for Balanced (clicking on the third roll which indicates 2.5V for Balanced), the screen also shows 2.5V.

Is this a common fault with SP2000? Please check your SP2000 as this seems to be related to the firmware. I would appreciate guidance on how to fix it.

Quick update - Some of the drivers for components are not available anymore in order to update the Android version. Our team has reached out to the component manufacturers to try to secure the correct driver versions. For the embedded Tidal, Tidal does not provide the files for Tidal Max for embedded apps for the current version of Android OS that the SP2000 is on. The team is continuing to look into all options to upgrade/update. Will share more information as it is received.
Any new information?

i think i should get used to lower volumes or my ears will bust. I'm on ier-z1r balanced on 110
Maybe pretty loud for an IEM but depends on how deep they sit, tips, how the cable seats them. And your hearing. Maybe that's not loud for you ;-)

As an aside, I have to run my Fostex TH500RP's @ 130 out of the SP2000 with stock cable.
