I am trying to set up my AK SP2000 to use with an iFi Diablo. I have the SP2000 USB C connected to the Diablo USB input with an USB OTG cable. My understanding is that in the SP2000 settings notification panel I should press the External USB icon to make the connection but it does not turn it on. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Have you got Diablo both connected and switched on? "External USB" feature is disabled, otherwise.I am trying to set up my AK SP2000 to use with an iFi Diablo. @JasonNYC
Hi Jason, it looks like some other A&K DAPs have already received an update removing the embedded Deezer app.
Do you have any ETA on an update for the SP2000? I was also wondering if we will get some new functionality like the wireless file transfer and the new navigation interface?
Thank you!

I do not have an ETA on the next firmware update for the SP2000, but know there is one planned which will remove the embedded Deezer app as Deezer is no longer supporting it. I also do not have any info on what else the next firmware update will contain. I will update once I have more info.@JasonNYC

Where can I get a replacement data cable, generic usb3 only have ability to charge.
I personally use Anker cables with all of my AK players for charging and data without issue.Where can I get a replacement data cable, generic usb3 only have ability to charge.
The USB cables are industry standard cables and not proprietary. Although I find some of the cheaper cables have issues in general, even with my USB-C Samsung phone.

Until it comes to communicating with an M-chipped MacBook… and then you’re going to have issues. The only way that I find that the SE200 works as a usb DAC with a 2021 MacBook Pro is when you use it is with an Apple certified USB A dongle. Not ideal. I assume it’s the same with a SP2000.

I wondered if this would work. I suggested this solution to another user on this thread having an issue with an m1 MacBook Air. glad this seems to work.Until it comes to communicating with an M-chipped MacBook… and then you’re going to have issues. Which USB A dongle did you find works if I may ask?Until it comes to communicating with an M-chipped MacBook… and then you’re going to have issues. Hi Jason,Which USB A dongle did you find works if I may ask?
Theoretically any USB C to USB A will work. the USB A interface within the dongle "should" slow the connection speed to the USB A standard.
there is a huge amount of confusion about USC C. here is the 50 thousand foot perspective of the readers digest version of the cliff notes.
USB C is a connection type. It is not a protocol
Protocol is the cable, sending and receiving devices. The protocol controls the connection speed and what is transferred. The protocols are UBC charging (thin cables that only support power) USB C data transfer, thunderbolt, thunderbolt 3, thunderbolt 4 and USB4.
here is the problem not all ables are created equal and the devices attached may see a USB C data transfer cable as a thunderbolt. Now the MacBook is going to try and send thunderbolt speed down a cable that may not be able to handle the speed. Couple that with the receiving device not sending or being able to send its connection requirements up stream and then you get an error.
I believe the new M1 MacBooks are Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 (they are essentially the same). the data transfer rate for 4 is something like 40gb per second. Connect the SP2000 via a thunderbolt cable and the M1 MacBook is going try to make the SP2000 eat at 40gb per second. SP2000 more than likely can't handle this and you get an no go. aka connection error. add into this Apple forcing USB device makers to update long overdue driver updates and well the problem gets worse
Recently Intel has allowed thunderbolt protocols to be used with out license. so in the future we may see some sort of resolution.
some things that may work for the M1 MacBook crowd. Take a look at one world computing. they make some really nice docs. the thunderbolt 3 doc has both USB C connection and thunderbolt. the thunderbolt is on the back and identified by the thunderbolt lightning symbol.
Please note I don not have an M1 apple. I am on an Intel apple. so I can not test to see if a dock solution will in fact solve this M1 issue.
hope this kind of helps

Did a little testing and I can confirm the following:
Computer: MacBook Pro 13" M1
Direct connect: MBP -> SP2000 doesn't work for me
Dock 1:
OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock - https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/docks/owc-thunderbolt-3-dock
- Connection to dock is over thunderbolt
- USB-C port on front using USB-C cable connects to SP2000 and launches Android File Transfer showing all internal and memory card files
- USB-A port on front using USB-A -> USB-C cable connects to SP2000 and launches Android File Transfer showing all internal and memory card files
Dock 2:
OWC USB-C Travel Dock - https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/owc-usb-c-travel-dock
- Connection to dock is with built in USB-C cable
- USB-C port does NOT connect to SP2000
- USB-A port using USB-A -> USB-C cable connects to SP2000 and launches Android File Transfer showing all internal and memory card files
I generally keep the travel dock in my camera bag for SD card access. The Thunderbolt 3 dock however has been through a couple Intel MBPs (I use this instead of any work provided solutions to attach monitors) and now my M1, its a very solid device that works, like I've had no trouble with a 4k monitor being left plugged into the dock, and gives me a single cable plugin with charging solution for at home. There's some newer variations of these docks now I'm a big fan of OWC and they make solid Mac accessories that comply with the specs.
