Astell&Kern Launches Three New Products to Start 2023

Got my CA1000T today and haven’t stopped listening to it since! I loved my CA1000 but couldn’t resist the temptation to get the new model. Boy, I am so glad I did! This thing is just wonderful. I did a brief comparison between the two by grouping them in Roon. At first I wasn’t sure the differences I could hear were improvements, but the more I listened the wider the gap between the two became. One very happy new owner here 🙂

Wow congrats!
If you don't mind,
What are the main differences in tonality between the newer CA1000T vs the CA1000?
More resolving? More dynamic?

Just quickly before I must force myself to switch it off and get some sleep…! I was thinking about how I might describe the differences, and I would say the sound is more focussed; it’s as if each element of the music becomes more distinct, yet fully cohesive. There was a softness to the outgoing model that became more apparent the more I listened. Definition is also better, I would say. Overall it just sounds right to my ears. Never easy putting into words what I’m hearing…

Got my CA1000T for almost 2 weeks now. The best AK stuff that I've ever tried in these years. Tons of improvements in term of details over the old CA1000, just slightly below sp3000 in term of resolution, but in return you get tons of power for driving just almost anything in the market. Plus the adjustable hybrid amp is super awesome, you can get tiny little tonal adjustments in between for just any songs.

I agree 100% on chargers. Unfortunately, these are pretty niche products and to include country/region specific chargers is difficult, especially if something is not selling as well in one region and selling more in another region. It is easy to shuffle inventory to meet demand. If AK were a billion dollar company like Apple, it would be easier.

Power delivery via UBB port varies by computer and even from port to port, the power output may not be consistant, which is why it is not recommended. You can certainly do so and not harm the device.

Perfectly safe as those are in the range of acceptable power output. As the CA1000T supports PD 2.0, any PD 2.0 rated charger would be supported. I also recommend any Qualcomm 2.0 or 3.0 certified charger as they would work without issue.

The North America team usually edits the manuals for English as sometimes the translation from Korean is good, but could be misleading. We did not do the CA1000T for some reason, I believe the UK team did. What should be said was that the cable is not proprietary and any quality USB cable could be used. You may experience issues using a lower quality, cheap cable as they may not be up to USB spec. I personally am a fan of the Anker USB cables and use them with all my AK products. Anything that is over a few dollars should be good to use and not cause any issues.

No issues with any of these being used with the CA1000T

Again, apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Feel free in the future to PM me if it is urgent and you have not received a response in 24 hours.
Thank you for your efforts. I was under the impression that I had already replied to this message, please excuse me for just getting back to you.

So far so good. Then I could actually get further with my not-knowing about the power adapter and cable. So far everything is working fine. I finally decided on the Belkin 108W because the Belkin 30W was getting a little warm. The Anker Nano 3 (last generation) is supposed to get much warmer than the Belkin 30W according to a professional review in German. The Belkin 108W always stays cool and it also serves as a charging station for other devices.

Otherwise, as I said, everything is wonderful. The device is great and certainly my endgame for many, many years!

It struck me the that I had taken the charging cable and data cable out overnight and the CT1000T still lost a lot of battery the next morning. When I press the power button without any cables, I always see the charging status message.

I then noticed that the PC boots quite slowly (after pressing the power button) when I have the CA1000T connected (usb-c of the mobo).

Is all this normal? Reports? (@JasonNYC, @tonyl59, @Massacare...?)

EDIT: The problem might be solved with the original cable. Why is there such a thing with extremely high quality cables? I have tested the best USB-C cable from Belkin, Corsair and Logitech!

Apologize for the delay in answering. It was a holiday here in the US yesterday and stil catching up on things from the weekend and yesterday while also prepping for CanJam NYC this coming weekend.

Not sure I exactly understand the issue you are having. Are you saying when the CA1000T is shut off, the battery still drains? Also, your computer boots slowly if the CA1000T is connected to it?

@JasonNYC, I just thought I’d mention a small issue I have with Roon on my CA1000T, which was the same on the CA1000. When using the physical track skip forward button, the player jumps forward by three or four tracks. The on-screen controls work as they should.

Thanks,
Tony

@JasonNYC, I've also seen on the CA1000T that I can't increase volume above 125 unless connected to a charger (the message "BAL. When connected it is limited to MAX 125" is displayed). I hadn't seen this on the CA1000. Is this a new restriction?

Thanks,
Tony

I believe this is a new restriction due to how much power it requires. I have yet to see the CA1000T in person or use it. I will play around with it this weekend when we unpack it at CanJam NYC. I will also see a few of the team members from Korea there and will ask for more details.
