I bought the Fiio gold plated IEM's for the memes (and because I thought they were sick).

This just seems hilariously unnecessary and I love it. The regular dap already weighs too much. The copper weighs even more. I bet this is an absolute chonk. It's not really a portable device if your trousers fall down when you put it in your pocket.

There should not be any perceived sound difference as the Gold is still using the stainless steel body, but gold plated.

Ok, thank you. I know the copper would make a difference in sound but I did not know the substrate of the gold plated version.
