Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is having a "sticky" and inconsistent resistance with the volume wheel? This is a new Kann out of the box, and while adjusting the volume, the wheel does not click smooth all the time, as some turns it somewhat freely rotates.

Many Thanks!
yes, it happens to me, not a new one bought

Thank you for the reply, I'm trying not to be picky but this is a big jump from the Fiio units I am used to, price wise.
I agree, there are enough problems with Alpha, but the sound covers all the inconveniences

Haven't had an issue with the volume wheel.

My Volume Knob is perfect, rotates slowly with a slight click.

Does not sound normal. I would suggest exchanging it with your dealer if you can or since it looks like you are in Canada, you can contact our North America support team in California - https://us.astellnkern.com/pages/contact-us

Thanks for the advice, I may just do that. The problem is, as user Klyaksa wrote, that the sound quality is so good it makes me over look any perceived issues. I have also started to think about exchanging it for an SE180. Slippery slope!

I had the same problem. A lot of chaotic resistance and no click. Sometimes even an internal rubbing or similar sensation. It was sent for service. Replaced. It works now properly.

I’ve been listening to the Kann a lot lately. This is the way an ESS dac should sound. I had an Oppo HA-1 with ESS for a few years and it was quite edgy. I was a bit hesitant on the KA but the tuning is great.

I´m still struggling with the lack of crossfeed in the A+K player settings of the Kann. I examined the manuals of the other A+K DAP and found no hints in any manual up to SP2000 player.
@JasonNYC:
Is there really no request from the user community for a crossfeed feature? More than 90% of my music is mixed and mastered using loudspeakers. It feels unnatural with headphones, because the channel separation with headphones blocks information from reaching the other ear. The virtual stage becomes very unnatural... With crossfeed this behavior is - at least for me - very much improved. A lot of high quality headphone gear includes therefore crossfeed. Astell+Kern is most adored DAP producer on the planet - why not implementing crossfeed in different flavors in the system-wide settings? People who like to hear bit perfect can switch off this feature.
Using Roon I'm really satisfied with Kann Alpha - top notch!!! Foobar2000 player on Kann offers crossfeed, but its implementation is faulty by cutting all music files down to 16 bit.
The code lines which have to be implemented in the A+K software would be minor....
Is there an internet link where suggestions to the Astell and Kern team are collected?
