100+ Head-Fier
Easy buy for me if it has bi-directional BT
Yeah they have a fix for your sr15! It's called the sr25! Lol
Bit perfect more than perfect...that sounds cool. I’m waiting for “byte perfect”A new player like all other players. Mqa 5000000 khz made only for Tidal with dsd 3 Million , xdsd 3 billion, bit perfect more than perfect, Ldac 0,5hz - 1 trillion hz. With 220v output power to drive subwoofer 1000 W rms. With Apple ios 13
And snapdragon 865 for the best experience ever. Lol.
Yes, KANN ALPHA has USB DAC support. Any of our players released in the last 8 years do have USB DAC function.1) USB DAC support
No dedicated line out like the first gen KANN, but there is Line Out function like the rest of AK players where you would enable line out via the menu. This works for both balanced and unbalanced outs. The 3.5mm jack on KANN ALPHA is also an optical digital out and supports a mini-toslink cable.2) Lineout (either SE or balanced)
Currently does not support Bluetooth receive, so it cannot be used as a Bluetooth DAC, but have been told in the past for other players that it can be added in a future firmware update as the chip supports it. No further information or ETA is available at the moment. Also does it support bi-directional Bluetooth (transmit and receive)?

I will have to confirm with our hardware team when they are back in the office on Monday, but I see the SNR is the same as the KANN CUBE and better than the 1st gen KANN. I’m sure it has something to do with the higher power output as the other players have half the power output than the KANN series players.@JasonNYC
I was getting very excited about this offering, it ticks all the boxes.
All in all. A truly versatile workhorse.
- AK UI
- All the outputs I need, 4.4mm, 3.5mm, optical(Yay optical!)
- High gain options for difficult to drive headphones headphones
- Decent battery life
But then something caught my eye that confused me that requires more info from the brand.
(If the specifications released now are accurate)
The SNR for the Kann Alpha IS systematically worse then any other mid to high end AK DAP.”
Worse than SR15, SR25, SE100, SE200x SP2000, Yada Yada yada, all of them.
So from these observations, my questions are:
- why is the SNR declared so low?
- Please clarify the measurement condition for the reported SNR. Did this change this time around?
Thanks.

Yeah, it's certainly possible that the higher power modes have worse SNR then the alternate gain settings, but then it should be made clear.I will have to confirm with our hardware team when they are back in the office on Monday, but I see the SNR is the same as the KANN CUBE and better than the 1st gen KANN. I’m sure it has something to do with the higher power output as the other players have half the power output than the KANN series players.
Sorry chaps but what is SNR and what is the impact of this?
