Does anyone know if this player sounds worse over the AK connect app, streaming via wifi?

I just got one new for £250. And I can only play music that way atm (PC is awaiting a part so cant move files onto the player). Must admit, so far I’m quite certain my Sony Xperia 1 ii does a better job sound quality wise, but its early days yet…

It is the same quality once you have a good wifi coverage.
You can try yourself, the Kann comes with some music sample files. The Spanish Harlem is beautifully recorded.

If you have a server that provides you the music files for AK connect, you can store some music on an SD card with a phone as well, and put ut to Kann. Just be sure it is FAT32 formatted.

You can expect a warmish signature.

What HPs are you using?

Ok so I decided to do it properly this time, streaming over wifi from my phone to the KANN Daft Punk Random Acess. Used the P9 headphones.
Annd, it sounds great. I even went back out of curiosity to test it vs xperia 1ii, and yes indeed, the KANN was better. Details were much nicer, while the phone pushed some aspects of the song too far back the KANN was more balanced. And it really opened up the stage too. To be honest, it blows the phone out of the water, which isn’t bad considering everyone praises the xperia 1 ii for sound.

Once I get files directly on the KANN, do you think it’ll sound better, or is wifi not a limitation? Thanks for helping out.

Makes me wonder if the portable players are this good, the norma and the like. Very happy with this so far for £250

Hmm, KANN refuses to connect to my Bowers & Wilkins PI7, what a shame! Bluetooth issues. Not sure if its my unit or a general problem
According to this article, B&W is aware of the issues with the PI7 trying to connect to any device that uses aptX and is working on a fix - https://www.techhive.com/article/3623726/bowers-wilkins-pi7-headphone-review.html

"A B&W representative said the company is aware of these issues and believes the problem is related to the aptX Adaptive codec. B&W is working with Qualcomm to learn more. In the meantime, if you’re planning to pair the PI7 with a high-res music player, you might be out of luck in the short term. Hopefully, B&W and Qualcomm will identify the root cause soon and B&W will release a firmware update to fix the problem. Frustrating as it was, I did not dock the PI7 any points for this problem since B&W is aware of it and is working on a solution."

Ah blast, what a total bummer. Its odd as it works with aptx from my xperia.

I was thinking of getting an SR25 just for the PI7 for portable use but I guess ill wait see if they fix it

New release of AK connect app has been issued, but apparently MQA support is not there...

Hi. Again microsd card problem. I tried 4 cards different capacity. All of them not recognized. When I eject card I've got message "MicroSd card corrupted".
Is this software or hardware problem?
Have you tried formatting them in the Kann? The Kann likes the FAT32 format, most mSD cards are exFat formatted by default.

What firmware version do you have on Kann?

Hi. FW 1.13CM
I cannot format any of them because cards options a grey. All cards FAT32.
Try formatting one on a computer first. Also have you tried turning the device off then on again. Maybe even a soft reset. If it reads on your computer then it’s not the cards but a software issue.

Yes, I've done all of this. Sometimes KANN detect card but shows "damaged card". After reboot card information remain gray. Same KANN with 1.12 read this cards fine.Sd card work too.
I just wanted to write, the 1.13 was the FW which supposed to make the Kann compatible to the 1GB cards. No other improvements. Instead it bricked some of the Kanns. So you are lucky that it did not happened to yours. You can downgrade to FW 1.12, I made a post long time ago with some links how to do that.

I do not remember any more if AK came with even newer FW, or it was just promised, and nothing came.
