Even after the update, the login authentication issue remains with the embedded Tidal app
Tidal is working on the KC where I can use it manually. I cannot control it via AK connect on my phone - it is only on my android phone that there is an authentication issue for using Tidal through Ak connect app...."authentication failed" each time

Per previous posts, the AK Connect app will receive updates for both iOS and Android after the player updates roll out. The last of the updates went out this morning, should have more info on timeline for AK Connect app soon. Updates are expected this month.

I see and shall stay tuned for android update. Thanks
Yes, the issue that affected players also affected the AK Connect app. The AK Connect apps need to be updated separately from the players and new versions pushed to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Expected to be updated before the end of the month.

New firmware is now available for the KANN CUBE to fix the login authentication issue with the embedded Tidal app.

@JasonNYC, I can confirm that after installing the new firmware, purchasing music using Qobuz is still impossible.

Do you know if the developers checked this before releasing this firmware update? It only took me a few minutes to confirm, it is a bit surprising that they would do a software release that apparently leaves this broken.

This software update strictly focused on fixing the embedded Tidal issue.

I own a Kann Cube and purchased a Kann Alpha because of Roon Ready Support. But I do not like the sound of the Alpha compared to the Cube. The Cube soundstage is much wider and has more weight and authority. The Cube sounds like a audiophile loudspeaker and has a spacious sound, the Alpha sounds clear and neutral but the sound is (much) more direct and „in your head“.

Will Kann Cube get Roon Ready in the near future, does anybody know (probably someone from Astell & Kern)?

Currently do not have any info on if or when KANN CUBE may become Roon Ready. Astell&Kern is planning on expanding Roon Ready support to more players in the future, but I cannot confirm if/when KANN CUBE will be added.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s holding back roon ready support for other models aside from marketing strategies ?

Development, testing and certification time.

It is not as simple as copying and pasting the Roon code to each player software. Each individual player firmware has to be integrated with the Roon code from the ground up which takes time. Once done, the new firmware goes through QA testing on AK's end, then the player with the integrated Roon code is sent to Roon for testing and certification. Each player can take months from start of development through final certification, depending on backlog in AK's dev team and with Roon's testing schedules and how many other products they have in awaiting testing.

Once testing and certification is complete, it takes the dev team about 7 - 10 days to finalize and prep the update for distribution.

The issues with the embedded Tidal app also temporarily froze any new feature development while that was being fixed.

Thanks for the clarifications on the process but I’m specifically wondering about the choice of models that get supported ? For eg, why is SP1000M not being certified yet kann alpha is though SP1000M is in the ultima line ?

Thanx for clarification about this. But A&K is market leader concerning DAP, so the expectation of customers regarding features like Roon Ready is high. A&K should listen more to real customer needs, I am sure that Roon Ready is on top list of most customers since years.

Hey folks,

I have installed Foobar2000 player on my Kann Cube (have the latest version of Kann Cube firmware).
Now, is it possible to add additional foobar skins to make Foobar look nicer ???
I've spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to do this and so far no luck. I have found a bunch of foobar skins on the Internet which are basically files with the .fbskin extensions. I have copied these files from my laptop on to the Kann Cube, have put them in the Internal Storage / OpenService / Foobar skins folder. Then I go to the main menu of Kann Cube > Services > foobar2000 > open foobar on Kann Cube > tap the screw key icon in Foobar's top right corner to go to foobar's settings > from there I tap Choose skin > and then Foobar offers the choice of only 2 stock skins : White and Black. Below there is a User Skins menu item (see the photo attached) and it says "No user skins found". There is also "Add More" menu item and when I tap Open, Foobar just opens my media folder with all the music in there. There seems to be no way to navigate to the location where I have stored foobar skins. And even if I place the foobar skin files right in my music media folder, Kann Cube just doesn't see them (as Kann Cube is not able to recognize files with .fbskin extension, I suppose).
So, is this doable at all or maybe Kann Cube doesn't offer the option of tweaking Foobar's interface with additional skins ?
It's kinda weird, because the menu item to choose skins is there in Foobar, but alas - no way to actually do this.

Thanks to everyone who is able to contribute to this discussion, guys.
