Just a reminder. The Hugo is how much bigger than a AK, 5X? Not really comparing fairly. And it does not have the ability to play anything because it's not a player. I'm positive the Hugo is a great piece of kit, but a DAP its not.d

Nonetheless, Hugo set a benchmark in portable SQ thats supported by reviews and sales number.

An interesting battle of the flagships (in SQ) , I personally feel is 901S vs 380.

The AK380 has gain selection via the internal software / GUI. Wonder if the 'weak output' comment was due to the LOW setting. Am just sayin'....

FULLY FULLY  satisfied with my TH900, my Analog Square paper TU-05, my Roxane, and my Ultrasone ED5
FULLY satisfied with my Eddie Curent EC445  (but, now that I have heard the VIVA Egoista 845 at Munich, I may sell my EC445 to buy an Egoista)
satisfied with my LCD-X : very very good sound, but... too heavy for me: I want to sell it to (may be) buy a HE1000 that I listened at Munich
OK with my Analog Square paper TUR-06 (it is very good, but cannot match my TU-05)
 
And since I have now since 2 years an AK100 + HUGO  as a source, for portability sake...
 
I was considering upgrading to a single box AK380, IF it had ...
 
        - QOBUZ or TIDAL integrated (most important).  
        - 512 Gb  (or a SD instead of a micro SD)
        - A more powerful amp (this can be fixed with their companion amp),
 
............. I am asking too much ?

Not at all. If I could stream tidal, this would be a no brainer for me. I'd sell my AK240 and zx2, and immediately purchase this. Now that I'm using tidal, I really enjoy it and it would be missed.

Well at least I think AK is looking into getting AK Connect support with the 240.  Of course this is just my guess but it make sense.

 .. For me, if the Sound quality punch at Hugo's league.. it's an immediate buy. I am hoping with the amp module it will.. I am willing to pay $5000 with the amp module.
 
I have a feeling it will.. since the AK240 is pretty close to Hugo already, and now all reviewer says its better than AK240 - more bass with similar refinement.. and now throw in the power amp module, I can hardly believe It's not in Hugo's league.

 I actually contacted Vinnie to have the mod done, then all of sudden, as I was about to ship Ak240, I saw Anak's Ak380 wedding reception picture. My mind was suspended, disorientated and confused like lost children in a forest.

RWAK 240+ is 3.3K. For $200 more you get a newer device with factory warranty. What am I missing here?

For those that own an AK240 already, perhaps that's the better route. I'd rather sell mine and get the newer model.
