I also have the CD Ripper MK II and it’s a really nice well built product.
It can be a bit of a grind to rip CD however the system is great at making excellent rips and accessing the TOC to get the album art from CDDB and it’s all seamless.
Yes it a labor of love but once the process starts it’s all seamless it makes its own cd rip folder. I use WAV and depending on the quality of the cd sometimes purchased at swap shop etc I’ll use error correction which can also lengthen the process. Enjoy
Thanks for the information. Can rips be stored on external memory cards? Is the connection in the rear USB A?

Greetings

I just took delivery of my CD Ripper and ripped my first disk but my question is how do I move the rip over to my external disk?

You can only rip to internal memory, but can move albums and tracks from internal memory to microSD card in folder view.

Well, looks like you guys got lucky in getting a ripper as they no longer sell them! I had trouble trying to find a dealer here in Denmark so I wrote to the EU contact for A&K.
Their response:

Thank you for contacting Astell&Kern Service.

We regret to inform you that the AK PIRRER MKII model has been discontinued, and as a result, it is no longer available for sale. Please note that this product, initially launched in 2017, has reached the end of its service parts retention period. Consequently, certain service and support options may no longer be available due to the expiration of this period.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.

Damn shame. I hope they come out with a MKIII.

Hi,

Not sure if this helps you, but the UK Astell &Kern distributor has 5 left in stock. I purchased mine about a month ago from him along with the Acro CA 1000, for just under £600 all for sale on Amazon.

Hope that helps a bit.

Tony

Some U.K. dealers are still selling for £1,995, they are brand new and un opened.

Per warranty terms, products purchased out of country will not be covered by warranty in a different country. For example, if you are in the US and purchase from the UK, you would not be able to submit a warranty claim in the US. You would need to send product back to the UK for warranty repair.

Which was why I was trying to purchase one in my country of residence, Denmark. SOL, it seems.

I thought they were still in limited production. I reached out to the hardware team to confirm status and will share after the US holiday.

Hope you are right because I have the MK2 and If there was ever a problem (repair wise) I’d sincerely hope Astell & Kern could fix my CD Ripper with the serviceable parts in stock. Obviously for now. My CD Ripper works great, but I’m not naive. Nothing lasts forever, especially the laser inside the Ripper.
Thanks for all that you do though, Jason. Really appreciate your customer support.

I agree with you. I love having mine, since my library of music contains a vast number of CDs.
I guess I really am in the minority camp with physical media these days. I think that is a damn shame as well.

A few years back I purchased Sony’s PS-HX500 turntable.
It’s perhaps the only known turntable that has a built in DAC that allows me to rip my vinyl records digitally and transfer them over to my AK player.
Another labor of love, but I love to have them in this format for another flavor when in the mood. It does an excellent job of transferring vinyl records and over this long weekend I spent the better part of the day transferring some records I just picked up.

Hey people,

is it normal for the SP3k to be stuck in "scanning media" when a new SD card is inserted? And if so how long should it take.

I'm using a 512GB Samsung Pro Plus. Tried to format it with the DAP and also factory reset the DAP. I can navigate through the folders but seems like the indexing is never ending and the card is not even half full...

The card works perfectly and I've also successfully tried it with other DAPs....
