Zero impact on the SQ. it sounds the same previous firmware version !!!

The quoted post offers no details on how or why and under what testing parameters for the claim. I would wait for actual information to be provided rather than spend time that you cannot get back responding

@JasonNYC what will this new FW update address?
There is a new firmware update out? Seriously, I had no idea they were releasing a new firmware update until I read it here.

Usually, if they release a new version with a small incremental number (ex. 1.17 -> 1.18), it is to fix one or two bugs found on the previous version and they felt it was urgent to fix ASAP. I did pass on the increased boot times to the dev team after last update. I will find out from the dev team and share.

I’m just in the process of updating the firmware to 1.18. The notification to install came straight up in the Dap itself.

Hi LFC_SL,

Maybe I don't understand your comment.

My answers are my own and nobody else's. I am not affiliated with AK. Therefore, I have no information about their processes.

I personally have not seen any changes on the SQ. This is my perception, is may be wrong.

Maybe some experts or bats are hearing changes. I simply have not.

Best

seems like a production release by mistake: no announce on the site and Jason is not in the loop...

Not necessarily. As I mentioned above, if they found a bug that the dev team felt was big, they would quickly push out a fix, then go back and update the website and teams later. Will most likely be on the site when they are back in the office tomorrow (middle of the night in Korea now) and regional teams will be updated.

My SP3000 prompted me to update from 1.17 to 1.18 today, this was after I had checked on the device for an update and it found none.
Then 30 seconds later the device prompted me to update to 1.18.

Much faster boot time
Original FW Version 50 seconds
1.17 FW Version 65 seconds
1.18 FW Version 35 seconds

Psyschoacoustics plays a major part into perceived "changes". My iems sound different almost every time depending on my mood.

Does that mean that the tuning was updated over the air at night? Hell no. A&K already confirmed they don't change the sound signature of their DAPs post-release.

The rest is tin foil hat business...

Agree 100% here, this business of updates causing sig changes has been thrown around these forums for years. if the manufacturer state otherwise it’s certainly more than likely psychoacoustic.

Firmware never changes the SQ in A&K devices
