There is a new firmware update out? Seriously, I had no idea they were releasing a new firmware update until I read it here.
Usually, if they release a new version with a small incremental number (ex. 1.17 -> 1.18), it is to fix one or two bugs found on the previous version and they felt it was urgent to fix ASAP. I did pass on the increased boot times to the dev team after last update. I will find out from the dev team and share.

Not necessarily. As I mentioned above, if they found a bug that the dev team felt was big, they would quickly push out a fix, then go back and update the website and teams later. Will most likely be on the site when they are back in the office tomorrow (middle of the night in Korea now) and regional teams will be updated.
My SP3000 prompted me to update from 1.17 to 1.18 today, this was after I had checked on the device for an update and it found none.
Then 30 seconds later the device prompted me to update to 1.18.
Much faster boot time
Original FW Version 50 seconds
1.17 FW Version 65 seconds
1.18 FW Version 35 seconds
Psyschoacoustics plays a major part into perceived "changes". My iems sound different almost every time depending on my mood.
Does that mean that the tuning was updated over the air at night? Hell no. A&K already confirmed they don't change the sound signature of their DAPs post-release.

Agree 100% here, this business of updates causing sig changes has been thrown around these forums for years. if the manufacturer state otherwise it’s certainly more than likely psychoacoustic.
