Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000

I have managed to listen to SP3000 with Viking Ragnar and Kr5 mainly and with both combinations I very much like what I hear. The differences when compared to SP2000 besides design the great UI are a general increase in resolution, improved spatial resolution, separation. I got the impression that there is more space between the individual instruments. I like the clear sound, the dark black background, the improved definition in bass/sub-bass. And SP3000 allows for an airy and clear sound in the highs (in case the iem can deliver; both, Ragnar and KR5 could).
Thank you for sharing.🤗

The finish is lovely. It has a kind of shiny mirror effect on the back. Very smooth though to the point I’m a bit scared of it slipping through my fingers 😢 I’ve put the case on now though and that calms me down 😃 The case is good quality too.

There might be something contractual where US sellers can’t release them until I think 17th Oct. This doesn’t seem to be the case though in Europe hence people are starting to get them.
Never used the leather cases prefer the clear TPU Skin aftermarket. Added protection and does not hide the form of the player. I am sure will available for 3K eventually.
This is the one I currently have on my 2K. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224915222696

And yes…..I’ve got air bubbles applying the screen protector. I can peel it off and then reapply, but those bubbles just don’t want to leave me!

I thought there was a factory applied screen protector on already but I may be wrong. @JasonNYC ?

I was meant to get my black SP3000 earlier today but had to leave my flat and missed the delivery guy by 15m.

They will try again on Monday, a bit annoying to think I could have had it in my hands already!

I couldn’t find too much time to listen. But, it was good to see modern and flawless UI after sp2k.

It didn’t look like anything was on the screen when I took it out the box. I don’t actually like having anything on the screen but I think I was a little worried about protecting the glass since I’ve only just got it.

Yes

let me describe it like this - i own the SP2000T and the SP2000SS…

the SP2000T sounds very nice and warm but with my collection of IEMs i found it like missing some details and it is not that “sharp”
on the other hand the SP2000SS has all the micro-details and stage but sounds sometimes too technical and cold

and now my first impression is, the SP3000 has both, sound more musical and warmer combined with details and sparkle -
after the first evening with it, i‘m very happy with it

P.S. First day, only listened with VE EXT and VE Phönix - next will be Odin, Solaris 2020 - imho Solaris could be a good match… let’s see…
Hi thanks so much for your impressions, just wanted to see how does the sp3000 compare with the sp2000t with the tube mode set to the max, does it offer the same musical warmth. Am v tempted to upgrade from the t to the sp3000. Thanks in advance
