This is my 4th AK and I've never had to replace a battery. My SP1K is 4+ years old and still has a strong battery. I suppose if you listen to your DAP 24/7 you could wear it out quickly, but....

The tube is supposed to last some crazy amount of hours. I saw it listed in the documentation somewhere, not gonna try and find it now, but it was basically life of the player under "normal" use.
Yea i read the tube last 30,000 hours but still i would i like the comfort of knowing its replaceable if it burns :D

If it burns early it should be covered under warranty. Or pro-rated. Only time will tell how AK will handle that (possible) eventuality.

If it does happen, they will inform you if there are parts available. I think they have stopped servicing the AK380 due to parts. Models that are more recent should still be serviced.

@JasonNYC

New firmware is really good, nothing major but wifi connection and speed seems slightly improved which is great.

This is the first of 4 AK's where I have had issues getting WiFi to connect just to do an update (I don't stream). Once I got it to connect it was fine. Haven't tried it since the update, though. Other than that, update seems fine.

OpenMTB works. Seems solid. I think Commander One transfers data more quickly (subjective, I haven't measured speeds) but it also costs $.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I have an IMac and used to have a Macbook Air so I can offer a few comments on file transfer.
Commander One works great over Wifi. But it does not recognize the external SD card. So I have loaded up my SD card with my "go-to" music so i don't have to change it frequently, and then I can add new stuff to the internal memory easily.

You can use MQS Streaming Server to download music over Wifi. It works okay over wifi - kind of slow usually. Also it changes the filenames from your computer which I dislike. Also if you have any tracks in the folder with the same song name it will overwrite the file as it goes. I have a lot of multi disc sets with multiple takes and this is a real drawback. But if you have a couple cds to load it is fine.

Android File Transfer does not work well. Disconnects repeatedly and you end up reconnecting the cable a lot. This was with Kann Cube. I have not used it much with the SP2000T.

SP2kT + C9 tube timbre & class A amp + Indigo = Clean, detailed, punchy & musical. Love this combo 👌🏼

Commander One over WiFi? Why? Just plug it in and it works great. AND it recognizes internal and microSD.

I have no issues with AFT except it doesn't like to move large amounts of files. I used Commander One to move both my Music folders from my SP1K to my desktop and then into my SPK2T with no issues. When Commander One did an update and killed functionality for a while (since fixed) I temporarily reverted to AFT.

This new app seems to work fine as well.

Plus 1 for Commander One. I use it all the time to move files from my Mac to my DAP and also to my backup external hard drive and also within my Mac. With Commander One you can readily create new folders, rename existing folders, etc on your DAP from a Mac. I haven't used AFT since discovering this program.

Hey Chesty - How are things in Hong Kong? According to the news, the gov't is going to slack off on the lockdown. True? Hope you are doing ok there.

On a lighter note, I sent a PWA 1960 there for Peter to repair and have no idea where it's at. Left the Air Mail Center about six days ago and .... ? The funny part is that PWA is in the first "town" on the island after taking the road out from the airport. I think the cable could have been walked to Peter in about five hours. :)

Stay healthy!
