After harvesting this forum for a week (so much info on here  ), I currently narrowed my choice to two options for driving my DT880s (Manufaktur 250 Ohm):
- shiit bifrost + asgard 2
- Audiolab M-DAC

I already auditioned the m-dac and liked what I heared, although I would still characterize the combo as being somewhat too treble happy (my 880s still need to be broken in though only about 30 hours on them).

I won't be able to audition them side by side so thought about asking for opinions here:
- Which setup would you prefer for DT880s or in general?
- Any differences in sound signature to be expected?
- Am I missing worthwile options in this price range?
- Should I get the Uber upgrade in the bifrost? After reading up on the experiences, I guess I should... .

Some constraints:
- I need a device to process music from my macbook pro retina / NAS
- Fo CD playing, I would be using my PS3 optical out to the DAC

Any advice / experience report is very welcome!

Thanks!

One bump. There's an upgrade for the M-DAC available as well (L2 MDAC) that has been well received so far (http://www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum/showthread.php?t=136892&highlight=MDAC+upgrade).
