Are the HF-2/650/701 the Headphone Trinity?

So I'm not the only person in the universe who isn't impressed with the D2000! PHEW!

My holy trinity is HF2, SA5000 and HD600. My final headphones too. Only a major DAC upgrade and I am done. I SWEAR!

HF2. This is simply best Grado I have heard, EVER. It has no trace of RS coloration in midrange nor the sharp spike of SR serie. Perfect Grado.

SA5000 and HD600 are two sides of same coin. SA5000 being bright and inyourface and HD600 laidback and smooth. I love them both.

DT770 and Proline 750 are only for my closed headphone needs.

I own the K701, HD650 and RS1i but they are not the headphone trinity... they are the triforce!

Well, in fact is the Grados and the "other two"

I find this really surprising. I've always hated the K701's and directly compared them to the AD2000's this summer and thought they were better in every respect.

It is a matter of personal preference. Some experienced members like AD2000 but I'd take cheaper phones like K701, HD600, HD650, K271s, K240 mkII over AD2000

My impression on AD2000

3 headphones are one to many really. Pro 900/435S/My XTZ speakers is my Trinity.

ED 8 may replace the Pro 900 will see about that.

JH13, HP1000, and one of the new orthos- not sure which yet.

THAT is the f'ing trinity right there. You've got the 2 purest headphones ever made, one in highly portable form, and the other only around the house. And then something new with good soundstage, and more of a fun sound.

My trinity or the "Three Musketeers" I would call it, was the RS1, HD650, and K701. I actually think the HF2 with bagel pads sound like a blend of all three of those headphones put together. The somewhat dark/mellow sound of the HD650, color and energy of the RS1, wide soundstage and detail of the K701. I could actually live pretty happily with just the HF2, the only thing that bothers me is the sibilance.

I eventually found the K701 to be a bit boring and find that electrostats blow them away. Ideally, I'd want to keep a Grado (or a few), a K1000 or electrostat, and something with lush chocolate mids and musicality like the HD650 (perhaps R10 or something). I haven't heard that many headphones yet to say for sure.

KK, R10, and HE90 would do nicely.
