I was wondering would something like the re400 be worth it to a person who has never had headphones worth more than $10 and is only going to use it to play music off their smartphone, or would it be better just to get something like the lg quadbeats or sennheiser cx300.

lol well yeah i guess they wouldnt be considered audiophile to anyone on this forum, but will i be able to tell a noticeable difference between the re400 and cx300 and how big of a difference would they make upgrading from some old skullcandys?

yes imo you will, as you climb the headphone/earphone food chain, you will notice differences. theres big differences between the 0-200$ range....then there on, sonic differences are basicly just ''different'' more so than better...

A $100 - 200 iem will be a considerable upgrade over <$50 iem`s but after that its diminishing returns, a $200 iem will get you 90% of the sq of a $400/500 iem which will get you 95% of the sq of a $1000 iem, its realistic to stop around $200 but many enjoy hanging around the $500 tier iem`s which can be considered flagship.

Worth it always depends on the individual.  That goes for everything in life.  A $1,000 dollar pair of IEM's might be insanity to some.  Same way a car costing 100K is insanity to others.  All depends on the person and what you can afford, and what you're willing to sacrifice elsewhere.
