thats just elitist talk. just the word "prestige" alone made me shiver. that's plain bull****.

So much gets lost in translation, from Spanish to English to German, so I wouldn't take their choice of words so seriously. I think they meant "for the discerning user".

Prestige in German does not mean the same thing in English.
From the dictionary:
widespread respect and admiration felt for someone or something on the basis of a perception of their achievements or quality

German words that would more properly express this would be "Bewunderung, Respekt", I think you understood it as in that it gives the person USING it prestige - that's not what they meant. If they meant it that way, then yes, screw them

Cheers,
K

I think they are willingly sacrificing market share but need to make ends meet. Pricing is one of the tools to define your market. As stated they don't want to appeal to the mass market, rather to the person who appreciates the effect it creates.

I remember this roughly from my marketing classes at university where a producer of perfume was asked why he charges the price he does: I could sell my stuff for $39 and make a profit instead of $139 but then nobody would want to buy it.

Humans are funny.

I am certainly looking forward to give this software a try once the trial version is available.

cheers,
K
I don't know if the case here but it sure is with A&K gear, which is slightly more expensive:blush:

I find the statements on their web page like, "Reslisten Player is a trusted algorithm for audio restoration and optimisation, " to be of little value. Trusted is open ended. I find it hard to believe that anything can restore what is not already present, I'm not keen on guesswork. Trying to alter what is played back to trick the listener does not mean that anything is restored or can be restored to any accurracy. Sharpening a picture can fool some people that do not look carefully for the real details. I would not look for the same type of approach with music. I do not believe in magic or using tricks to fool perception as upon some level of scrutiny one can determine that something is not right.

Dear Hi-Fi lovers,

We read many opinions and questions on Relisten Playes on this thread, I’ll try to address them all.

We developed Relisten Player using our proprietary technology which we have been generating for professional equipment for 15 years. Our App is the result of a huge process of migration from professional hardware stations used as finalisers on television channels and radios to a portable software encased in an iPhone App. This technology is not based on traditional compression/limitation/EQ process but on our own technology which we called Hierarchy.

Neoduction is a research company which has developed line array speakers, fx processors and lately profesional plugins for Pyramix, ProTools and compatible DAWs. If you want to take a look in NeoductionTools website you can find Hierarchy plugin with a tutorial video which may thow some light on how Hierarchy works. Other services we provide as a professional recording studio is classical music, jazz and contemporary music recording. Our chief engineer Fernando Brunet is an awarded professional with more than 35 years in the industry, centred on mastering for classical and jazz music.

In the last times we have decided to develop a new line of products based on mobile devices, being Relisten Player the first one. The aim of this app is to take the best from an iOS device so you do not need a DAC or any extra device to get the best quality, we found that carrying several gear in addition to your iOS device was uncomfortable and could be avoided if we managed to implement Hierarchy into a music player. And we are pretty glad with the result.

We have tested our process with many professionals and high end lovers and we have been improving it until we achieved our goal. It’s been on the market for few months and we are happy with the acceptation on the market, but we have been asked to work on a try before buy feature, which sounds legit. We are working on this among many other projects such as cinema theatres sound processors, so we have limited amount of time to invest on our App, we hope we have this ready during july. It’s taking some time, we are developing an invitation system for the users to invite others to test the app. We don’t want Relisten Player to become another widely used music player for mainstream customers, this is not about the money it’s about prestige.

We love to hear our customer’s opinions, we use Facebook and read our mail so please do not hesitate to contact us. We will have the test codes ready soon and we’ll inform you on our Facebook page.

Let me just clarify that Mr. Vlyminck is not being paid to commercialise Relisten Player, we do not agree with this selling techniques. We share our enthusiasm with him and therefore we want to thank or customer Mr.Vlyminck for his great support and passion towards Relisten Player.

Best regards,

Alex Bordanova,

Project Manager at Neoduction.

It will be nice to maybe try a couple times. If possibly it could happen?

You are right, this is certainly true in the case of Astel & Kern, but a 50 Euro app is price wise hard to compare as being top market, my son uses music software for home recording that cost 600 Euro and there is no snobism in this ( professional) market segment, they are only working tools.

There is a huge difference in multitrack audio/midi production software and a music playback app for a cellphone/iPod. Trying to equate the price difference makes absolutely no sense.

After reading Bob Katz's 'Mastering audio' i can only have a great a laugh at this kind of bombastic DSPs.

How does Relisten improves noise floor, harmonic distortion, IMD, channel crosstalk, output impedance or output voltage?

Rule of math: if it seems easy you're doing it wrong.
