For a custom cable like this, you'd have to send an e-mail to BJC describing what you want. When they reply, you'll be given exact pricing information and a link to a custom orders page where you can place the order and pay with PayPal or another method. When I ordered my custom interconnects, there were e-mails ping-ponging back and forth almost in real time, and Alan did a great job of answering my questions and seeing the order through.

Pangaea,

No, we're talking about two mono RCA to 1/4" TRS cables which the Duet (and other devices designed for music recording) need to connect to regular hi-fi gear.

The web site shows the Lisa 3 as having RCA inputs, so you'd just need a regular pair of RCA to RCA cables.

I got the following Email from BJC quoting an Email from a customer who bought a breakout to RCA cable...

FROM THE CUSTOMER:
"The 90˚ cable fits just fine into my unit, thank you so much. For your
own reference you may want to know that the little screw does not fit into
the Apogee Duet (maybe Apogee uses non-standard screw holes?); however this
is perfectly fine with me as I don't mind leaving it unscrewed"

FROM BJC:
The one issue, as mentioned above, is the inability to get both "locking
screws" into the connector shell. We can add this slimmer shell to the
assembly for the same cost as the normal straight plug. I've included
ordering directions below.

We build the cable out of a two channel balanced audio cable. The cable is
called Belden 1509C...

I suppose this would be worth a shot as the price seemed reasonable. If anyone here happens to be the customer in question...or has ordered something similar with the 90 degree plug...let me know. I would like to order soon...but I would appreciate some feedback as to whether or not it works (or wobbles) Maybe I'll just give it a go!...then I can answer the questions for once instead of asking them!

Well I've been lurking on this forum for a long time now, soaking up all the great info, looks like it's my turn to chime in.

I'm the customer Blue Jeans quoted. Several months ago I sent them the Duet pinout and asked them to make a cable. The first cable they sent me had a cable with a standard straight connector, and while it was very well built, it wouldn't fit into the Duet because it had a thick metal lip on it.

I emailed Andrew at Blue Jeans about the problem and he told me about the 90˚ connector he thought we should try. Before I knew it the new cable was at my door.

As you can see, there is a screw on one side; it's too large to fit into the hole on the Duet, so the screw is non-functional here. The connector however is very snug and secure, so I don't think you'll have any problems if your set up doesn't move around much. It's been working for me just fine, and I'm glad to have the Apogee medusa out of my workspace.

Blue Jeans was great to work with as usual, never have any complaints about them.

Very interesting!

I think that looks like a great solution. I actually e-mailed BJC on May 17 to request such a cable, and surprisingly have not heard back from them. If they receive enough requests for these custom cables, I hope they can come up with a "standard" design and post the details on their web site. I would certainly order one.

Funny...same here..except I emailed them a few days after you. I'm still using the custom 1"4" TS to RCA cable made by BJC (actually, you suggested that to me a couple months ago in the Apogee Duet Rocks thread, so thanks!!). The current cable works just fine, but since I'm only using the Duet for audio output to an integarted amp, I'm getting tired of the breakkout cable. I hope BJC will be willing to make a cable to directly into the Duet...I'd probably also order a cable w/ XLR connectors for my inevitable upgrade to a new amp/integrated w/ balanced ins..
