On my Duet, the speaker outs are balanced TRS(balanced 1/4 jack), not RCA. My solution is TRS - RCA cables from Guitar Store. I had used these previously on my m1212.

I tried some guitar store cables and they sounded absolutely terrible going to my LD MKV. I've pondered asking one of the DIY'ers who owns a Duet to make me a custom break-out cable for me though, but experimenting with IC's connected to an adaptor to the headphone socket, I don't know if I can hear enough difference to bother.

Damn this stupid octopus!
I don't have the duet yet...the website says ;;;Two unbalanced -10 dBV line outputs for powered speakers;;;
Thats not RCA? Then the OP adapter won't work?I am concerned about having as few cables in the chain as possible...
So I guess i would need an ''''''' unbalanced -10 dBV line output to RCA male?
I would just like two little RCA nubs to stick in the amp!

Anyone got a link/pic (not that i don't appreciate the other ideas!)

I don't know why anyone would say that the product linked in your original post would work with a Duet. They must not have a Duet.

You need an adaptor or cable from 1/4 TS (male) to RCA (male). These are extremely commonplace adaptors, and you can find them just about anywhere audio gear is sold.

spencexxx: Audio recording gear uses all 1/4" TRS plugs and XLR for connecting gear, so the Duet, instead of having RCA outs, has 1/4" TRS outputs.

attempts to DIY a breakout cable have not gone great so far but there are two solutions that I would honestly say are workable and probably not sonic distinguishable from the prefereed high end DIY audio breakout cable.

just get rca to 1/4 inch adaptors from rate shack or guitar center

or

solder a 1/4 inch mono jack on to a pre-existing cable you already own.

RS is where I got mine. Decent quality and 3.99 per. Most music shops will carry shielded TRS-RCA cables also, ranging between 10-30.00 per pair.

best,

I gather you can order a good cable for a reasonable price from Blue Jeans as well.

I had BJC make me a cable w/ regular male RCA's on one end & male 1/4" TS connectors on the other end (Rca into my integrated amp; 1/4 TS into the speaker outs of the Duet breakout cable; cost something like $55 shipped)...

I got the same fix at Radio Shack. I would be interested in others view, but I find Blue Jeans hard to deal with, and particularly hard to place an order from.
