Anyother Caribbean members out there?

The NAD Viso HP50 is highly regarded as an accurate headphone. This is Tyll Hertsens' review - http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/i-love-these-headphonesthe-nad-viso-hp50 , and the LH Labs Geekout 1000 DAC has also received positive reviews. This is Michael Mercer's review - http://parttimeaudiophile.com/2014/03/28/geek-out-1000

Hey. Thanks for that info. I know the NAD is highly regarded, probably quite similar to the Sony MDR-7520 with maybe a bit less bass, slightly stronger mids and better soundstage. Thats why I asked your opinion of that headphone using your amps. I am running mine out of a lowly Fiio E11K and am enjoying it.

The reason why I am in so much doubt and confusion as well is that I am considering an audio interface to try and get myself back into writing and recording music. So even looking at those. I will get to where I want to be eventually. Just need to buckle down and make some decisions. In the meanwhile, would love to hear the opinions of people like you on the gear that I am targeting. A lot of reviewers delve too much into the euphoric language and makes a lot of stuff sound great even if they really aren't. I know Tyll is a good guy. So I trust his opinion, but persons who own different gear are also a wonderful source of info. Hence this forum for me.

Thanks

My natural curiosity is side tracking this thread.... Back on track....

So far, we have unearthed three members of the Caribbean. A vincy (me) a Bajan (briguy78) and a Bahamian (digitallc). Anyone else? It would be really nice to get to know you guys... and not just gear wise.

So far so good, it's nice...$2,500US nice, well that's tough to say.  I haven't had a lot of time to use lately because I was travelling. Honestly, I haven't tried with DSD and shamefully don't know much about that format.  I'll report back once I've had some more time with the Hugo.

Ahh...

I regard Trinidad as my second home. I studied there at UWI. And have a few friends and family there.

That was great you guys having a meet. Wish I was there. Looking at the photos, I was trying to piece together where the meet was held, but was at a loss. Care to say which part of TnT the meet was held?

It was at the bedrock gaming and mini golf center in Maraval

All the hi-fiers are the meet are also avid gamers from the Gamers Association of Trinidad and Tobago (GATT. www.carigamers.com) so we just used a gaming location for our first meet.
We gonna get a better location for next one, maybe later this year or next.

OK. I am bumping this thread. The reason being, lets seriously consider if a meet is possible. There was a Trini meet earlier this year. Any other  caribbean members interested in joining this meet and expanding it to a Caribbean meet? I would love to do that and hope others would be willing to do so as well.

So... Lets chime in here and see if we can make this thing a reality, a blast and annual thing.

Lets roll.

None of you guys interested in a meet?

So,

No one responded to this thread for a while, so just thought I would revive it. Still interested in knowing you guys from the Caribbean. So if there are any new members out there just chime in.

Personally, my gear list is slowly growing...... VERY SLOWLY :), but that is how it is here in the Caribbean where duty charges kill you. My next purchase may be either a dac or a new headphone. The Focal Elear has caught my eye, but I dont know if i want to spend that much on a headphone that probably wont get much listening time from me because it is open. The other one that has caught my eye is the Oppo PM2.

DAC wise, looking at the Bifrost Multibit. Seems like a valid upgrade over the Modi 2 Uber that I have. Will see as time progresses.

Priority right now is the a young man heading off to secondary school, so books clothes shoes, etc to take care of first.
