Anyone else excited about the (possible) new ipod?

It looks like education pricing on the iPods has possibly now stopped. They're the same as the general store.

Gapless for a shuffle is relatively pointless, since the songs won't play in order, but it still would be sorta nice.

Man... now I don't know what to get. Those Nano's are sweet. But I need more storage than my old 20 gig... On the other hand, something small for working out would be nice. Having my whole music collection would be great though. Money is so limited... bah. I'll probably work on my desktop rig before I work on my portable one. But then again, how much time am I going to be spending in my dorm? So many choices!

Wow, i'm definitely impressed (although i'm not buying anything this time)
Steve did EVERYTHING that people thought he would, and even more (that tiny shuffle! cmon!)
And that price

Please let my 5G ipod be updateable to the new software..
BTW, we're just calling these 'new' 5Gs right?

Then again, the new shuffle is too tiny to house a usb plug. You have to use the "included dock" to connect to your computer and, presumably, charge the player. I'm curious, too, if they kept the same beefy amp that people here rave about.

Search and enjoy
Finding what you want to hear among 20,000 songs could be quite a chore — unless you have an iPod. A new interface lets you search your iPod using the patented Click Wheel. And if you’re a fan of live albums, classical works, or anything that sounds best when it’s continuous, iPod supports gapless playback that seamlessly transitions from one song to another.

that's what i'm talkin' bout.

Well, I called my local Apple store and they said they had NO IDEA when they would get new iPods.

So I ordered one oneline from the Apple store, and they claim it will ship within 1-3 business days. We'll see about that.

More space RULES though!

those new shuffles look sweet and i imagine i'll end up getting one, but i hate that you need that separate dock to connect with the computer...i use my shuffle on my bike but also as a backup for important files and even though the dock and cable are probably small and transportable, i'm not to keen on more stuff to potentially lose...

Looks like it uses a standard 1/8" plug...perhaps there will be a separate USB to 1/8" plug cord for non-dock use?
