The M50's have slightly boosted treble and a slight metallic tinge to it. I was wondering if it reduces with time or are there any possible steps to reduce it? It is noticeable on some songs only.

How long have you've had the M50?

Recabling and burn-in have none to limited effects (outside of the mind).  The best solution would be to sell them and try some other cans, like the SRH840 which are very inexpensive.

I tried my friend's who has it for months (and used it regularly) for a week, the treble is still sound metallic-y (though not as bad as zino), I agree with eucariote, try other cans if it's really disturbing you.

I use it straight from the Sony walkman NWZ A845. It is not that bad but you'll notice it when you test different hp's along with it, maybe because it's a closed-back.What are your sources?

I don't notice any kind of metallic treble using this setup. Even compared with some Beyerdynamic DT880 600ohm, Alessandro MS1 and Koss Porta Pro, my M50 does not have metallic highs. Maybe your Sony underpowers them? Also: do you use lossy files?
