I see there's a difference in their frequency responses from the graphs on HeadRoom but is there a discernible difference when listening to them?

Straight is more comfy than coiled, but it depends on how you will use them. For 90% of the uses of a headphone I prefer a straight cable.

I doubt if people could tell the difference between straight vs coiled cable, I say whatever suits your needs or what you can get.  They both use the same drivers.  I kinda like the coiled cable, makes it more neat and tidy.

The coil in the cable can add spin to the anoalog information as it travels through the cable....this can greatly impact the sounds stage, making it seem as if the stage is spinning!  (think the tornado scene in the wizard of oz!)  Nausia may ensue....

Obviously kidding......there shouldn't be any discernable difference between the two cables....go with what you like!
