So do we, I brought a big 20lb Turducken to Thanksgiving last year and I'm going to do it again. I like it with spicy country sausage and cornbread stuffing, then served with garlic mashed potatoes, string beans, corn-on-the-cob, cranberry sauce, and fresh baked butterbread. Oooooh god...
eek.gif
I bake the smaller 3-4lb Turduken breast rolls during the rest of the year, and while not ungodly, they are great.

I'm getting hungry...

Close, his name is Clifford. hahaha. I get his mail all the time, and once I received an envelope addressed to him with Cialis materials in it. So, I went and personally delivered it to him (instead of just throwing it into the big planter on his porch, like I normally do). I said, "Here dude, this looked impotent, I mean important. Good luck with the ED, that must suck." and then I gave him the "Bob salute" from the Enzyte commercials.

Hey, if we get enough of these Clifford/Sturgeon put-downs, maybe we can have them all bound in time for the holidays!

Magick - you can buy *pre-made* Turduckons?
eek.gif

YES!! You can buy them pre-made. You can order them online, or you can get them at some grocery stores. Sam's Club carries a good frozen one, and The Fresh Market (this awesome regional market chain) will make them to order, cooked or uncooked. I get the smaller turducken rolls at The Fresh Market too. They're fresh, wrapped in a baking bag, and ready to go.

I roast one about once a month.

I've had the rolls from these guys, and they're good, but it's not the same as a full turducken or quite as good as the rolls from the Fresh Market.

Ooh!  This is the best news I've heard ALL WEEK!

Yup, that is just beyond stupid.  And yet, it is law...

I'm not saying Lockheed couldn't lose - but I do think they were in the best possible political position to win. Lockheed had the better team, and the final F-22 really is a great aircraft.

Yes, it is.  And I personally believe that the right aircraft won.  Plus, I always chuckle a bit inside when another manufacturer steps and thinks they're gonna do well head-to-head with Skunk Works (i.e. Phantom Works).

Yeah, should be like the high 30s right?

Town Car. Hands down. Simply because historically speaking, Windsor and Mod are cheaper and easier to live with than Northstar. And if they're serious about doing a real six-figure car, and making a legitimate Lincoln again, it'll put to shame any Cadillac on the road (as Lincolns tend to do), at least as far as luxury is concerned. Sure the Cadillac is faster, but that isn't the point.

Still a tough call for me.  Might have to come down to some meticulous physical inspection before I can make a call.

Too heavy, and the SC'd I4 has more torque. Also with the ECU upgrade you can actually surpass the VR6 HP numbers, and get better fuel economy.

Right on.

OH, and the even bigger news, bigger than the turducken. With AAPL doing so well, and I've had some since 2010, I've decided that if it hits 775 by year end I'm going to buy something Italian and impractical. I'm seeing some good deals on 2-3 y/o 458s. Hmmm...:)

hehehehe.

Also - you just informed what I'm eating for Thanksgiving. I had no idea you could buy those pre-made (they're a mess to make at home). Even if I have to have it ordered in, it's worth it. :D

In California, you can show zero emissions out of the tailpipe, but if the "service engine" light is on in the dash, you will fail your smog check. I once had a vehicle that had a flaky transmission speed sensor that would occasionally throw a fault that made the service light come on. After a few hundred miles (when the computer had overwritten the old data), it would go back off again. I tried to get a smog check done when the service light was on - no go. I came back a week later when the light had gone back off and it passed. It's idiotic. If the lawmakers were ACTUALLY concerned with emissions (and not just with giving a source of revenue to the state and the auto repair industry) the ONLY thing that should matter is the emissions coming out of the tailpipe. If wrapping your tailpipe in magic magnets and unicorn hair made your emissions lower, fine you should pass.
And we have to do this dance every 2 years or when we sell the car...

Yep. Fines and fees as a source of revenue. Welcome to the "free market".

What the heck is the deal with AC Cobra replicas selling for $50-60K? That seems ludicrous.

I thought that was about normal? Like don't the normal AC Cobras go for around $100k? (I haven't been in or been near a Cobra since I was too young to drive so I really have no idea) I know the DMC replicas run that $40-$60k range too, so for some reason it doesn't seem that insane to me...

obob & Magick - I found some serious BIG IRON for you - it doesn't get much bigger than this:
http://classiccars.com/listing-202989/1989-amo-zil-41502-for-sale-in-san-luis-obispo-california-us.html
"Not only that , they performed. Maximum speed - 190 km / hr. Acceleration time to 100 km / h - 13 seconds. Mass of the car is 5.5 tons."

ZIL! That guy's price is INSANE, but yeah I'd drive that. Would also need an unholy amount of paperwork to back up his claims - which I doubt he has, which means it's a deal I want nothing to do with (he wants a million dollars because he says Yeltsin drove it, welp - prove it). But yeah, I'd drive a ZIL. Just for the insanity factor. Weight there is, ehh. My current ride is around 2.5 tons, and I've driven trucks up to 25k GVWR; the size doesn't intimidate me. I think I'd need two though - I would have to prove that despite the Russian's claims, that car can in fact both be flipped over and violated by weapons and thus hijacked. But I wouldn't want to drive it after I went GTA on it. :xf_eek:

Every GM I've ever seen has some issue with panel fit or interior trim. While older Lincolns may have panel gaps the size of the grand canyon, they're always "straight" unless they've been wrecked. Even the chopped coaches and lowriders.

You mean like roof liners that double as scarves?  Yeah, but I'd have thought they fixed that by now...

IDK, every GM I've seen (including recent ones) just don't feel like they're put together with attention to detail. They're nice, but they feel thrown together. Even newer Chryslers have more satisfying fit and finish, and they're both a mile away from a good old fashioned Lincoln where the doors feel like k-rails.

The gap between the fit & finish of the "affordable" cars and the "luxury" cars seems to be larger than ever. You have to be willing to spend some serious cash to get an interior that isn't a completely hollow plastic jungle. It's kind of shame, because I think the drivetrains and chassis are actually better than they've ever been - and that's across the brands, both domestic and imported.

I go on about the new V6 Mustang, but it's a solid car (pay the extra bucks and get the LS diff), 305bhp, and crazy fun to drive (and 26mpg avg). It's one of the best bargains out there, no kidding.

Yeah. I will agree with this. And I think GM is the worst when it comes to this - Lincoln at least still tries to drop some wood in here and there (but it isn't like the old-school where you're driving a tree), and Jaguar (at least pre-Tata) wasn't too terrible either. But I'm sick of the faux-leather + plastic/vinyl interior and everything being kind of this homogeneous mono-chromatic nightmare.

And I would say the Challenger is probably right in there too. There's a few nice zippy/sports cars that get decent fuel economy on the market these days. :)

I'm definitely with you guys on this one.  The V6 Mustang was my first choice.  It's amazing to me how they got 300 bhp and 30 mpg from a gas engine.  But my partner called dibs on that, and I seriously don't want us to pull up in the same car.  I know it sounds stupid, but I think that's a bit on the gay side.  Plus, I'm more than happy with a Challenger.  Generally not thrilled about the Camaro though - even if it is Bumblebee.  Something about the gauges really piss me off.

The new Camaro is like a less aggressively styled Challenger. I don't like it either.

What about the Taurus SHO? Or an old Marauder? (I don't mean 1960s, well I guess you could look at that too, but I mean the re-release from ~2004)

I've go a problem with the cockpits on the Mustang, Camaro AND Challenger - the visibility seems so restricted and cramped. I like having very good visibility with a minimum of interference from pillars and roof lines. And yeah, I know that makes all the exotics a problem for me - maybe that's one reason why I like convertibles... :p

On the AC Cobra Replicas - I guess I'm being naive - An AC Cobra replica is a pretty simple vehicle - tube frame, fiberglass body, some suspension parts and a big ass engine. In my mind that shouldn't cost the same as this:

It doesn't cost the same as that. That costs like $200k. At least BNIB. And the Cobra is probably faster off the line and cheaper to maintain. :p

And we all know you just want to drive the F-22 as your DD, it's okay to admit it. :p

There's just something a little too tryhard about the Camaro (both inside and out - but particularly inside for me).

I like the SHO.  I like the older SHOs as well.  But I guess I'm looking for more of a two-door atm.  Wanted a RS4 for a looonnnng time, but in the end I gotta go with what I want in my gut.  And, for several personal reasons, I want to buy American right now.  Don't mean to sound all nationalistic, but this is my effing home.

Camaros especially.  I have friends that RAIL against the Camaro's visibility (or lack thereof).

RS4 is a maintenance nightmare. I'd stay away. :xf_eek:

What about the ~Y2K Thunderbird? Those are peppy, and I've seen them starting to crop up used. New enough that you don't gotta do major re-tooling but sort of classic looking as well. Or a Vector...
