Hi everyone. I just received my first planar magnetic headphones Drop Hifiman HE5XX. Can you recommend amps that aren't too expensive that will give good sound that will work with all the following devices: Desktop and Laptop PC's, iPads with lightning and USB-C, and Samsung phone also with USB-C.

Thanks for your help!

If your using the headphone amplifier with the iPad and smartphone, does the amplifier need to be battery powered?

xduoo xd05 plus, topping L30, schiit magni heresy, topping nx3s, ifi hip dac, fiio q3... I have the xDuoo running my he4xx and it does a wonderful job, I have also run the 4xx with the topping nx3s, it just runs out of steam at the top end a little bit, but it will power them ok.

Thanks tmb821! I'll certainly check out all of those.

PurpleAngel, it really doesn't for me. I do most of my listening at home. When I'm out traveling I'll just use regular low resistance headphones that are water resistant with my phone. It's easy to get caught in rain and snow here with little warning.

Monoprice Liquid Spark. Cavalli gear is always good with planars. If your budget can handle it the Liquid Platinum is a very good amp for planars and love my Verites from it as well.

A $100 JDS Atom or Schiit Magni 3 headphone amplifiers will drive the 18-Ohm HE5XX headphones.
The XD-05 plus would add the benefit of a nice DAC function and might work Android OS or Mac OS.
(But it's price has really gone up, $290 USD)
The $100 Schiit Fulla 3 DAC/amp may not have as many benefits as the XD-05, but it's DAC function might still work with all your stuff.

Thanks pbui44, but a little more than I wanted to spend. Looking for under $400 preferably around $200. Looks nice though. Thanks for the reply!

You might want to take a look at our wireless xDSD/xCAN devices or wired hip-dac.
