I love ElectricLarryLand.. great sound on that one too.. "Jingle of a Dog's Collar" is a great speaker tester.

This list could be quite long. I'm sure I'd think of dozens if I put my mind to it. Here are some:

Robin Trower - In City Dreams
Miles Davis - Tutu
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
Mark Knopfler - Sailing to Philadelphia
Elvis Costello - Trust
Tracy Chapman - New Beginnings
Ian Anderson - The Secret Language of Birds
Muddy Waters - Folk Singer
Paul Simon - The Rhythm of the Saints
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
The Blue Nile - A Walk Across the Rooftops

Iron Maiden - Peace of Mind (yes this was my first Maiden experience, and I wasn't to sure about it at the time. But Powerslave sold me bigtime, and I was henceforth hooked

)
Death - The Sound of Perseverance (hated the vox at first, but now I really appreciate the uniqueness of Chuck's approach on his swan song)
Bruce Dickinson - The Chemical Wedding (I though this was a boring sludgefest at first, god was I ever wrong!)
Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black (ditto)

There are probably a lot but the most glaring masterpieces off the top of my head:

Grateful Dead-Workingman's Dead
(apparently the only Dead album I can tolerate

)
Joy Division-Closer
Tool-Lateralus

Some random picks... I've had music taste change too often so the list would be too long if that were the sole reason.

Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
-weird, because I don't find it much diff from their other albums, yet I hated it so when I first listened.

The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic/Electric Version
-couldn't stand Neko's voice at first, but now I'm even listening to her country !#@$ with her boyfriends.

Mew - Frengers
-pretty much the same reason

Well I seem to have the same feeling for an artist's whole album collection. The following took me ages to get into (like 6 to 12 full listening sessions) and ended up with me being a fan not only of the particular album but the artist.

- Radiohead (OK computer, hail to the theif)
- Amon Tobin
- Lord of the Rings soundtrack (now listen to it most nights in bed)
- Prokofiev violin concertos 1 & 2 (now the BEST violin I've ever heard but took me ages to "get it" my wife never did)

I'm still deciding about Bjork... but I've only listened to Homeopathic about six times... its growing on me though...

I bought the Velvet Underground & Nico album in 8th grade because I heard how bad ass the band was and how they influenced the music I liked. When I first heard it, it sounded like a badly recorded high school band from the 1960s to me. It's one of my all time favorites now.

I've never hated Michael Jackson's Invincible but when I first listened through it I have to admit I was a little dissapointed. But after a few "listening-sessions" the album gave me that non-describable magical feeling you only get from Michael ! I strongly recommend it !

Well, I wouldn't say I ever hated an album that's now one of my favorites, there usually has to be something there to begin with that brings me back. With that said I really wasn't much into The Verve's A Northern Soul when I first heard it (just seemed generic) but it's now one of my top albums.

Husker Du- New Day Rising

It was so harsh and noisy compared to what I was listening to at the time (Neil Young, Tim Buckley)

Then I realized it was truly inspired harsh and noisy

One of my favorite albums to this day and one I play on my MP3 player when I want to run hard

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
I remember saying to my sister, "How can you listen to that crap?" I didn't think that Morrissey had a very good voice back then but it eventually grew on me and I love this album.

The Smiths - Meat is Murder
I don't like this album as much but it is still pretty good.
