So this AKG K872 won't be good with something like an iPhone 6S plus or a Chord Mojo? I'm more interested in the AKG K872 in terms of portable use rather than home use.

Haven't heard a single portable headphone that significantly outperforms the Shure SE846 yet. Hence why these AKG K872 could be something interesting.
Have you tried Noble K10U A?.. It's really great.
Like the AKG K712, you need to feed this with a warm sounding DAC and a transparent solid state amp to remove that edge / digititis. IMO, that edginess is just the limitation of the DAC that is being fed to it. It's meant for studio use so any limitations of your audio equipment and the music file itself is revealed without any coloration. Now plug it up to a warm sounding DAC like the Bifrost / Gungnir Multibit and those edginess in upper mids / lower trebles are eliminated completely while sounding realistic.
My hope is my AK240SS will suffice without the need of an external DAC/amp—I like to keep things as simple as possible.
It seems the info from AKG suggests the wooden stand that came with 812 will not be included, i.e., "carrying case/stand."
Closed back K812?
dis gon be gud
There are seemingly a lot of deaf people (or people with hearing damage) reviewing headphones out there. You need to audition. There's nothing to correct IMO.
The irony in this post is mind-boggling.
