This actually doesn’t sound non sense . I would say I prefer N5005 to Tia Fourte, tubing wise this is more pleasantHere comes new club N5005 member.
Here is OOTB notes
I’ve tried routine tip rolls, around 20 sets. Due to a fit I had with N5005, and determining from timbre match, SpinFit CP360 is my top pick.
Also to whom considering N5005, I noticed the tuning of N5005 shares some similarities with U12t and surprisingly KZ DQ6Sz
If you are considering N5005, try DQ6S first, if convinced. It maybe your endgame.

For the price nothing even come closer to N5005 it’s a bargain to my ears it has deep clean bass than M9 though I like the sparkle highs on M9For the price - all the way n5005
M9 is a little too soft throughout the freq range
Bass is better on n5005
Get Ares(8 wire)/ Eros and you’re Golden
EA cable fit with no problem
It seem also to me that N5005 also react great to all sort EQ or in my case Xbass on my IFI Gryphon
Still Z1R is my King

N5005 for $200 at market of 2022-12 surely is very competitive. I’d say 86/100 level competitive. But there are many other IEMs with different tuning and close level of technicalities that could trade blows with N5005 within same price bracket.
One example is Truthear HEXA $79. It scored 85/100 in my book, it’s a rare breed that is a private brand from an ODM that makes Moondrop’s Blessing 2, Dusk, and Variations.
You can see how disruptive HEXA is from a simple stats. From past 12 month, on head-gear’s page views, average view is around 100-500 views per item, where HEXA is scoring 6k for being on Head-gear with leas than 2 months. Rumors after rumors, and people really started to realize there is an IEM in sub $100 segments that can trade blows with the IEMs that costs 10x.
Another one is Mangird Tea, it has quad Sonion 2600 for its midrange, where N5005 has less BA for the mid-range density. It scores 85/100 on my book.
Another one is a latest high-tech challenger AFUL Performer 5, which has 8 new patented technologies which were obtained from bilateral international acoustics research projects between China and Denmark (Sonion’s homeland). The bass of this $220 IEM has one of a kind “full range speaker” level of deep resonance, with same level of technical expressions that keeps up with N5005.
So if it was 1 or 2 years ago, $200 for this level of performance and timbre is surely the top-notch and second to none.
But at current competitive market, I’d say N5005 is one of a great choice among several others.
It all comes to if someone is in love with this pinna gain compensation tuning or not.

Nice that we engaged into some in depth discussions, I haven’t heard modern low tier iems to be honest, but owning most of current top tier Single dds (except for Turii) I’d say that tuning wise AKG and big brands like sennheiser nail it straight.
Z1R is super specific iem and I have both headphone and iem, it’s a little fatiguing.
Even with top cable rolling
I do think that current beginners tier are very very good and competitive, but with AKG s you also get that nice package, each iem is numbered (just like Z1R) and package is also important.
I love my Hyla CE5, most likely one if the best tunings on the market with piezo, dd, and ba it’s one of a kind sound.
I’d also say that Dita Dream is a sweeter and more interesting one dd iem that I really love
But AKG definitely nailed it!

Agree, the package of N5005 is pure luxury. This is even better than qdc anole vx that costs close to 3 grants. And when compared to Westone’s flagship W80 $1,500, I have to say AKG /Harman /Samsung is very customer experience oriented high-end top brand.Nice that we engaged into some in depth discussions, I haven’t heard modern low tier iems to be honest, but owning most of current top tier Single dds (except for Turii) I’d say that tuning wise AKG and big brands like sennheiser nail it straight.

you don’t want to know what’s inside W80’s box….cheap plastic pouch…cable that I couldn’t tell difference between KZ’ cheapest $6 IEM EDX’s cable…
The pouch looked like you got from Dollar General…
When I found AKG enclosed silica gel de-moisturizer subtly underneath the box of N5005, as old-time AKG fanboy, it reminded me of Rome wasn’t built in a day.

for $199 with BT adapter, why aren’t these flying off the shelf? Maybe not worth $999 or even $399, but I’ll take it for $199
