AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005
Feb 28, 2018 at 2:48 AM Post #77 of 1,545
just pre-ordered it with the coupon of signing mailing list, got a $50 discount, thought I could get 10% like senn
the shipping is expected to start from March so still some time for hype and for my wallet to take a breath

The coupon thing says 10% I checked so unless the N5005 is at 500$ there must be a mistake... still not available on the EU shop

Phone call to AKG in the UK this morning, they had only barely heard of the N5005 and advised it may not be released in the UK/EU. This wouldn’t surprise me as it’s the line companies such as Sony and JVC make with some of their totl earphones.

That would really be a mistake... I can’t see AKG not placing a contender in front of the IE800S
We’ll see...

I’m hoping it’s a mistake or just an advisor who really didn’t know. Eager to try the N5005, one of my only regrets in earphone land was getting rid of my K3003.

An N5005 unboxing / impression article in Chinese. I couldn't find the source of this review http://www.headphoneclub.com/thread-697280-1-1.html
Seems the BT cable in not compatible with the aptX codec, where Online support of us akg site mentioned that, but seems the review didn't think so

And writing a review based on BT cable listening only cant be that convincing, in my opinion

Alright, I've officially taken the plunge. I'll be hearing these beauties in a couple weeks and reporting back!

The AKG N5005 supports the most widely accepted codec, SBC. Unfortunately the it does not support Qualcomm AptX technology.

aka "We mistakenly bought 5,000 of these through aliexpress while blackout drunk during new years festivities , but they can't be returned and bulk electronics disposal fees are pretty steep so..."

Qualcomm & Sony's licensing fees must be pretty bad :expressionless:

Wow, $1000 and it can't even support a modern wireless technology. They'll sound no better wirelessly than any bargain $50 pair.
