AKG's New Flagship IEM - N5005

Spent the entire evening listening to these and these are amazing for vocals. It does like a bit more power, like the IE 800. I have it dark red on my HUGO 1.
The stock black medium tips were not good at all and could not get any seal. The blue spinfits are much better.
I like the reference filters the best, so far. Played with the bass boost filter a bit, but it smoothed out the whole upper mids and highs.
Sound stage is very wide, but limited in depth. It's not the best at separation on busy tracks, but magical with vocals.
I would have been happy paying the full price back in 2018. Picking these up for $160 now, feels like almost stealing.

 I think I might have freakishly asymmetrical ears! With Azla Max, i realized that I'm a size ML (left) and L (right). But with the stock tips, I'm a size L in both ears. With the JVC spiral dots++, it's reversed: L (left) and ML (right)???? I don't know how to explain it... I've finally settled on JVC spiral dots++, they are the most comfortable and best sounding ones out of the ones I've tried. I think i should stop my tip rolling now instead of trying the following that have been recommended: Radius Deep Mount, Final E Tips, SpinFit CP100...

I'm new to the world of hifi audio (recently got a walkman, basic headphones and a Chifi iem), and I saw this on a deal site and had to jump on it. Any recommended tips or anything I should try with it? Or should I try the stock tips first?

Try the stock tips first for sure. They might work for you. They didn't for me so I ended up using Spinfit tips.

we are now at 100+ pages so i will repeat my advice from before. I've had these since their release.
1. try the mid high boost
2. none of the stock tips felt "great" for me, but the spiral dots linked way back in this thread have been awesome.

Thanks, will play with the mid high boost filter.
I'm generally not a fan of the the spinfits. But the included ones really work well fit wise, though comfort can still be better.

For anyone in Australia looking for custom moulds for these, hit up Pacific Ears. I just received mine today and they fit great. They didn't have the N5005 in their database so I had to take measurements for them. It took just over 3 weeks from when I had impressions taken to delivery. Cost is $199 (AUD) but that is inclusive of the appointment at an Audiologist so not too bad.

The AKG-N5005 seems to be made for dubstep or drum and bass music.... since it's 'N series'.
I don’t understand the correlation 🤔

The letter N goes with that type of music. Industrial suburbia. I suppose N could stand for Neat Newness. Nano, nill, nature, next, notion, never etc. They're all N series and go with that music. Nominal beats etc.
