AKG new N90Q

Even the black version has some gold accent.

But it's not just about the color. The whole headphone looks ugly. Just compare with the K550 which costs about 150 dollars. It's ten times cheaper and looks much better.

And probably it's not gonna be successful. I just can't imagine any audience for this headphone. Akg is steadily going down hill since it's was bought by Harman. They dropped really great the K501 and K1000. It took them 10 years to make a decent headphone out of the K701. That horrible Tiesto line which fall apart in your hands after a few months of use. Then they failed with K812 and K3003. And finally they shut down the factory in Austria to make a few more bucks by using child labor in China.

I quite like the K7 variants, it allows someone a plethora of options to pick a headphone (K701, Q701, K702, K703 AE, K712, K7XX) that still have the spaciousness and soundstage you want from an AKG, but with lots of different tunings for each persons taste. I also thought the 812 sounded really good when i demoed it. Lastly, I love my 3003i, and many people in the 3003i's thread seem to agree that it's one of the best universal IEMs. I had also heard that the TEISTO Lines quality had significantly improved.

AKG's open headphones do generally have great sound stage which I definitely really appreciate. I also greatly enjoyed the k812 when I had a chance to demo it. can find the k812 at some really nice discount pricing if you are patient and observant. I personally would probably get the k812 over the hd800 if I was looking for a TOTL dynamic (personal preference from extensive demoing, though they are both excellent headphones). I wouldn't pay original MSRP for either though and don't usually pay original MSRP for my akg headphones.

really? haven't found any other akgs to your liking? i think the nice thing about akg is that you can count on their prices dropping & sniping pretty nice discounts. hahah

I did like aspects of the K701 but ultimately sold it.

At second glance appear a lot of similarities between Ryback's&Renner's K1000 and the N90Q

Wow, there's a lot stuff going on in these headphones!

I'm curious to see how well TruNote works. AKGunkie, has something like this been implemented before, particularly in car audio? Seems like the tech would do well in an automotive environment.

Of course, the purist in me would also like to see AKG make a "regular" headphone without all the doodads but utilizing that 52mm (biocellulose?) driver.
they have lots of headphones for purists, certainly their studio ones, can't be more purist:blush:

It's kind of hard to believe that these ugly-looking celebrity headphones are gonna cost 1300 dollars. They have to sound exceptionally good. The AKG was always famous for beautiful headphones like the K240 Sextett/K550/K701/K712/K812/K1000 but this one...
Today prices of 1300 dollar aren't eceptional anymore as some go 2000 till 5000 dollar, sheer madness I know but there seems a demand for this headphones

AKG on Youtube just posted a new video:

Also, I'd just like to re-iterate that my most trusted source claimed $1299.99 and fall 2015.

I think part of the price point has to involve the research that went into the headphone (adjusting audio based on the shape of your ear) and possibly the inclusion of a "hifi" DAC.

I am very interested to hear the final product, if it sounds good to me the price is justified based on all the technical development put into this headphone.
