AKG K167 TIËSTO - Discussion, Impression, Review & Appreciation Thread

Thanks for the great reviews, I have been wanting to hear more about the k167's.

Do you think these are a better choice over Pioneer's HDJ line?
the only downfall I see on the k167 is the non-removable cable.
But if the sound quality is better overall than the HDJ 1500 , 2000,
then I will definitely purchase these.

Need opinions!

Just out of curiosity, I can feel the drivers shaking (loud and clear) as low as 15Hz. Just to give you an idea of how the sub-bass is.

Just don't judge them right out of the box. Many people talk about 300 hours burn-in for AKG drivers (although they were sounding fantastic just after 6 hours or so)

Would these be a good portable companion to the Q701? Anybody have (or heard) both yet?

Dude, isolation is the best I have ever experienced from an headphone. They don't seem to leak much, if anything. Have to ask to my wife though.

EDIT: They leak just a bit. The normal. Nothing special. But isolation is incredible. Even more than the AIAIAI TMA-1's.

Nice, thanks for the info.

Does anyone know how's the vocal clarity of the 167 compared to a, say, sony mdr v6?

From memory I think vocals have pretty much the same clarity. But this is just from memory and just my opinion. Maybe more people should listen to them.

Yes, I think they could. Much more bass, but still very detailed.

Hmm, these have me officially intrigued.
I know they aren't on the same level, but I love my K81 DJs. I think these 167 look great, and I am now stoked to hear them from the reviews. Always had a soft spot for AKG, but the 550 did nothing for me. I couldn't believe the 81s sounded so much better to me.

So these fit over the ears nicely and how is the comfort? I was just about to buy some DT770 or some Pro 750, but may bite on these.

Is the cable detachable? I love a coiled cable. Love the looks of these.

They are VERY comfortable. No, the cable is not detachable.

Arrrr, the soundstage makes them so engaging, so involving...!! I can't stop listening... Now I DEFINITELY want to listen to the K267's.

ARe the 267s not out yet?

So these are better than the choices I listed above? I like treble and bass. I listen to a lot of live music and love the "live" sound of music, so a bass heavy even though I don't listen to bass heavy music, such as DMB, led Zepp, Coldplay and the like.

Better choice than the ultrasone pro 750?
