I have heard lots of closed headphones lately, but none have impressed me as much as the K167, I still need to listen to Sony 1r, but they are hard to find in my country.

What exactly impresses you with them? :)

Finally listening to them, but they're straight out of the box and I've just heard for about 15 mins. Detail is... OUTSTANDING!! I don't agree they're dark, they're no darker than the DENON HP700. Treble's resolution is 10 out of 10. The realism of cymbals and percussion instruments is notable. They're not a basshead can. The DENON HP700 modded (without the thick foams inside the cups) had more bass, I think. But the bass goes very deep (deeper than the HP700), If you have a good amp and can EQ the bass for a few more dbs, they might satisfy a moderated basshead. They sound so good!! Now I want to hear the K267's :p

EDIT: Listening to them with the Cmoy BB + SONY A865 w/ Clear Bass enabled and bass is much stronger than in the PC (Audigy Fatal1ty GAMER FPS). These have the sub-bass the DENONs don't. Reminds me the M-Audio Q40's a bit, but with MUCH better detail/resolution (and less mid-bass quantity).

EDIT 2: Imaging is excelent, good separation, mids are forward/in-your-face, soundstage is wide (both width and depth).

EDIT 3: If you're a basshead, the ideal amp for these is the ZO2. You'll feel the great sub-bass they have. If you're like me and no longer have the ZO2 but you have an E11 or Cmoy BB and a SONY A86x, just put EQ 2/High Gain on the amp, enable Clear Bass in the SONY and there you go.

Hope this helps. More impressions after burn-in

Does it sound like PSB M4U perhaps, balanced all the way through, probably with tiny bit less bass, ie probably less than 5dB at the very least (to most ppl's ears about 3~4dB boost in bass would still sound flat and 4~5dB starts to be "gently boosted")

I'm so anticipated for K267 now, I may even skip testing M100 due to there looks to be a little too big dip around 500Hz area for my taste which is critical to me. Also Miceblue's description of rock music how the guitars and vocals take the backseat behind the bass isn't very appealing description. I don't think I could get around that flaw if I know my personal taste right.

I have to agree with alpha10 that these are NOT a typical DJ can, but a Hi-Fi can for audiophiles. Which makes me think that the K267 would be the ideal phone for me, since I'm a basshead. What if I put them now for sale for £140? Any buyers? lol :D

Can we ask for some nerd porn? (aka pics)

EDIT: Listening to some Jazz now and the soundstage is HUGE, have never heard anything like this, except open cans. The treble is also very refined, even better than the treble of the Denon HP700.

Guys, I think these are bass-tunable like the K267 and with no need to punch any holes inside the cups (they're open already, just covered by some sticker). ; ) I'm no specialist so I leave this to RPG or other guy that is not affraid of modding them., then I might replicate.

EDIT: Again, the soundstage is just amazing!! And the BASS is soooo good...! These phones also have ALOT of clarity and micro-detail. I'm impressed.

EDIT 2: After 3 hours of burn-in the bass has sprouted and I can now say these are "almost" bass cans. Right out of the box the bass was really shy...! Not sufficient to me. Now I feel the impact, the punchiness, the tighness, the quantity and this satisfies me as a basshead (of course that more would be welcome :p)

EDIT 3: I really can't imagine how bright the D2000s are. Treble is excelent with great extension and decay. For me, and judging by the headphones I've had (see profile + sig), these phones are near bright. Just not the brightest, but not dark.

Now that the bass has started impacting and such, is the sound still balanced? Or is it now V-shaped?

I'm hoping that the K267 sounds as good or better than this on "Studio" mode...

Any comments on isolation/leakage? Might get this or the 267 instead of the M100 if it doesnt't leak much and has decent isolation.

Dude, isolation is the best I have ever experienced from an headphone. They don't seem to leak much, if anything. Have to ask to my wife though.

EDIT: They leak just a bit. The normal. Nothing special. But isolation is incredible. Even more than the AIAIAI TMA-1's.

Still balanced BRSx as I don't feel the bass overpowering the mids and treble. Quantity is about the same for all the frequencies. Since the vocals are so forward/in-your-face, I don't think you can call this a V shape sound. It's more like a W sound to me.

Pretty sure the K262 will sound better. And now I want them. lol.

EDIT: These have the same quantity of bass of the DENON HP700 with the foams removed, but a bit better sub-bass (the HP700 are still one of the best headphones I've heard next to the D7000).
