the M is a better 240 in terms of brightness presentation, whilst the 1000 is the more holographic presenter. bet the SS & Cu versions of the 1k, the former is the neutral & warmer (better body on voice) of the latter....

Sp1k is other level in comparision with AK380. AK380SS seem to be the bridge between 380 line and SP1000.
The 1kM Mseries is less detail and precision than original 1k. I focus on the macro dynamic and not fulfill the need for micro/realistic detail.

I owned the SP1000M, SE100 and SR15, and have heard the AK380.

Imo When AK does a new generation of DAP's it essentially renders the previous generation "old tech".

One could still prefer the sound of the older tech, but,

Even the SR15 sounds far more punchy than the AK380 due to the improved amplifier section.

I couldn't bring myself to buy into expensive older tech.

Coincidentally I'm selling an SE100 for $800, now that is a good road to take lol

To answer your question, hands down SP1000M over the AK380.

I don't think there is a huge SQ jump from AK380 to SPKm. It is a bit more resolving but it's subtle to me. SPKm does have a smoother UI though, and Tidal offline which is nice.
