congratulation revogamer, now the burn in begins. i am trying to hold out buying this ak stainless steel 240 because of some of the issues from current owners. your purchase(AK240SS) makes me want to jump right in & buy. i am trying very hard to wait on geek wave xdf 256 to purchase but no eta on this dap. happy tunes with your new toy.

The unit really does look as good as it sounds or is it the other way around?

Either way both points are top notch, the case that comes with it is awe-inspiring quality wise too.

Been enjoying it with my W60's

The sound that is coming from this thing is full bodied but clear and oh-so-smooth across the whole range

I was listening to my new SS last night and I noticed a couple of times that the sound muted for a second or so and then resumed playing. I seem to recall there being reports that this is an issue with v1.18, but I thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone else has had this problem with their SS.
 
By the way, I am using the 3.5mm output.

Custom built Neotech crystal copper + Mundorf silver.  The TRRS and TRS jacks are both used following the Astell & Kern PEF21 cable.

I've got about 100 hours on my SS and it is starting to open up. I am so happy I made the switch to the SS even though I can't say yet whether it sounds better than my original 240, but I have high hopes.

i am not one to tell anyone what to do but somehow paying 3000 dollars for a DAP in order to use it as a transport seems completely absurd.....the 240 is a fabulous device with terrific dual DAC's....if one uses it as a transport it bypasses what you pay the 3000 dollars for....i can certainly understand using a used 120 or another less expensive DAP or an iphone or ipad but a 240ss?????
