I noticed the biggest improvement when upgrading my source. That said, upgrading the amp also did produce a noticeable improvement with the AD2000. A warm amp can really fill out the bass nicely and naturally.

I agree, sources change the sound a lot more than the amp. That being said, you need a pretty blackground amp still because it seems like the AD2000 picks up noise easily

dont mean to hijack your post OP, but can someone point me in the right direction for an amp for these cans? Eddie Current EC/SS or the Zero chinese amp that been making rounds on ebay. currently using dj mixer headphone out.

I'm interested in your impressions. I've been eyeing the AD2000 for some time now. Either that or I might spring for the Stax SR-404 and test the electrostatic waters.
