Can anyone reccomend some? And can you comment on the difference between finding a suitable/affordable amp for the 600s vs the 650s?

DAC/Amp would be nice, but I hear that getting an amp first might be best.

I would agree with pekingduck, I enjoy my hifiman. its a good starter tube amp/dac combo.

I second the enthusiam for the EF2. It was my first piece of equipment, and is a great match with the 650s IMO. Its a very passable DAC and you can get very good sound out of the amp, especially if you're willing to tinker with the tubes. Can't comment on the sound with 600s. The sound with HD650s was excellent. The k702 did not sound as great, "tinny" and the treble was very fatiguing. There is quite a lot to read on this amp if you're interested, see the thread started by HeadphoneAddict. I recommend it highly with that phone on that budget.
