Ok, I'm not exactly sure where to post this, so if a mod needs to move it, that's cool.
Ok, I'm using a cheap C-Media soundcard to encode Dolby Digital Live and send it to my astro mixamp via optical for decoding, for use on my PC and PS3 for gaming.
Here's my question,
In the soundcard settings I have a "System Input" section, with the option "2CH, 4CH, 6CH, and 8CH"
Even when I select 2 channel, I am getting Dolby Digital sent to my mixamp, but if I change it to 4,6, or 8CH, the sound changes significantly. I want to know what setting I should be using for what, and why 2 channel source material is coming to my reciever as FULL dolby digital (not prologic or dolby headphone, full dolby).
Any light that could be shed on this for me would be much appreciated.
