AAW Capri Balanced Lightning Audio Cable, with Type-C variant

Jun 3, 2017 at 5:52 PM Post #61 of 212
I got a Lightning Capri cable, definitely have a bit of hiss on this. Maybe it could be due to manufacturing issues?

No idea, but as said the hiss isn't consistent, I've had the phone open on the home screen and it's silent then you start playing a podcast or something and it pipes up. Be interested to what AAW have to say...

Can't use the cable now for a couple of weeks as I just sent my CIEMs back to Future Sonics to be upgraded from MG6 Pros to MG6 HXs. Hopefully they'll be some developments between now and then... I'll keep plugging them in now and then and have the Capri app open to see if the software is updated any further.

I just ordered the Capri with USB C connection. I am worried about the hiss as I am using a very low ohm CIEM (Cosmic Ears CE4P). In most of my sources' headphone jack (except my ipod touch 5g), there is a noticeable hiss. Is there anyone else already using the USB-C version? Could you let me know whether there is a hiss?

Any idea when the MMCX to Lightning cables will ship? Can we solve the hissing issue before sending those out? ;-)

So, no new phone was announced by Apple so I have no idea which connector will be used in the next iPhone.

I'll bet you $1,000 all new iPhones coming out this year have lightning on them, so the lightning Capri will still be relevant

Yeah I think if you look at the history of Apple's phone connectors you'll see that they are in no shape to be migrating away from Lightning any time soon. They copped a lot of (unjustified IMHO) flack for the 30-pin -> lightning connection fairly recently, no way are they looking to repeat that.

I'm sure an investment in a Lightning Capri cable would be secure, as long as you stay in the Apple ecosphere.

Speaking of which, where is a good place to buy them? I notice that null-audio has them for $57...

At that price I'm pretty tempted, but still it would be nice to hear more opinions from those who have these cables so far.

Software updated to V2.1.5 - be good to see what the updates actually include. Got my Future Sonics back from their upgrade trip over-seas. Still got the hiss. The newer HX model of the MG6 Pro has like this shaft for the 2 pins to go down into before they plug in to keep them a bit more secure and I was really worried that I couldn't fit the Capri cable ends to the IEMs, but it just took a bit of lining up, patience and elbow grease.

Biggest issue is still the hiss for me. Have never touched the Capri since getting it and still sticking to the dongle due to the noise floor.

Yes it's very disappointing. Being dynamic drivers especially I would have thought mine were easy to drive and hiss shouldn't be an issue. It's not something I can hear if I'm listening to music commuting but certainly in a quiet environment it's off-putting and like you say, the freebie dongle is silent so it shouldn't be hard to achieve.

Another software update; V2.1.6

Still nosiy. Is the only alternative a stock IEM cable and the Fiio dongle at the moment? I just don't trust the durability of the Apple dongle which was the main reason I got this.

I got my Capri cable with MMCX yesterday shipped from null audio. I cannot seem to find the ios app in the US app store. When I plugged in the first time, IOS prompted to install the app and when I clicked on the continue button, it took me to a Redeem page with no app. I tried searching for AAW and Capri digital but the app doesnt show up.
