64 Audio U18t & U12t Update

Feb 10, 2025 at 5:31 PM Post #46 of 66
Thank you all for your responses and for engaging in the conversation. We hope the cosmetic update to U12t and U18t breathes a new life into them and sparks interest in folks who may have not yet heard them.

We're proud to have introduced some of the most innovative tech and disruptive products in this industry over the years. As it relates to audio, patented tech like apex™, LID™, tia™, as well as lesser known achievements like our electronic LPF, wave-sync, True-Isobaric, and most recently creating our own process for Helmholtz Resonator integration. Less "audio-related" things like our milled aluminum billet signature shell shape, and even faceplates like our U18s flycut pattern also require serious work and dedication from our R&D team. Whether it's patented tech or even internal tools that we build for manufacturing, we continue to innovate. The pace at which our products are released is a conscious effort to provide truly timeless audio products. As we like to say, we're always working on cool stuff here in Vancouver WA, so keep an eye out this year.

Along with these cosmetic changes, the addition of the extra apex module and cable give this update a real-world value addition that we hope will be useful to you all.

Thanks again.

It's everything their sound is getting left in the dust by empire ears and campfire audio hell even chi fi is more innovative

I don't like the word chi fi, but aniway they are bringing to the table all the new tech that later we see in the west, first the Bcd, now the mems, etc.
And I think Campfire audio is anything but innovative. They are doing the same crap for years. I'm sorry. Just my 2 cents.

The new U12 looks like when you go into an Apple Store and there are all the third-party accessories done up in that Apple silver/white scheme. You know, the stuff that's a really good match for the Apple stuff, but you can tell the design team just went through a normal product design process, not like the psycho process over at Apple, where they whittle down like 3,000 prototypes to get the perfect simple track pad or whatever.

If anybody knows what I'm talking about...

Am wondering if 64 Audio would bring a refresh in both design and hardware for the Forte, since the U18T has one now.

And it would be great for their future releases, to have their own distinct designs.
The U18S, Volur/Neo, Duo and Solo, arrived with unique designs that distinguish them from the rest, both visually and sonically. Gives them extra character and originality.

I also suspect that Fourte and Trio may be up next for a new re-lick of pint and a new look.
This said do you think that they are not already well distinguished enough sonically from the rest?

I think they are distinguished, but and I’ll repeat this again - they should supply graphs on the page and talk about what type of music etc they are best suited for.

Think a new user coming to their page, you could have a “what type of music do you listen to” filter

You could also have some keywords like:

Analytical listening
Fun listening (bass focused)
Reference and fun
Etc.,

Right now people have to figure this all out themselves

Yeah, I’ve always wondered why the Fourte was really the only IEM in their lineup with a very unique design that truly stood out aesthetically. I agree it’s due for a refresh.

Didn’t they give a subtle cosmetic refresh to the Trio a few years ago? It looks like it went from flat black faceplate to a more brushed look. And the metal frame looks a bit diff too. Still, I can’t disagree that they need some cosmetic upgrades, in general. 64 Audio designs have historically been very utilitarian, IMHO, while other designers are more flashy and like ear jewelry. Maybe they reject that idea?

Agree with you ... the old design is very sober, professional and very neat and good in their own right. From my perspective too, Trio need any restyling.
Personally I would also welcome a toned down Fourte ... a toned down, Trio looking version.
Jewellery IEM seem in fashion these days but I personally look for good sounding IEMs and leave the jewellery to my girlfriend ..

What about having an IEM recommendation for each sub type of music?
One for a metal ballad, one for a rock song, one for a thrash metal song (but if it is speed metal then there should be a different IEM all together).. in an dieal world I may like to have an IEM for each part of a song...

There is no need to figure much out for yourself as there are plenty of highly regarded revirewers that have generously dissected these IEMs in aboundance:

etc..

And on here too...

Easy to search :)

They do tell you that. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call them or email info@ with questions. They will give you recommendations.

These are much cleaner looking. Good addition with the 4.4mm cable.

Sonically, the Fourte and Trio are distinctively different tuning.
That's what makes both so interesting in the line up and still have a place for each.

Aesthetically, the Fourte still looks great with the orange lines and green copper plate.
It's just that there's a uniform identity/look to the Fourte, Trio, U4S, U6t, U12t and U18t, that makes them seem ... not so unique visually.

Unlike the Solo and U18s, at a glance, we know exactly what model they are. They look great and sound even greater.
Would like something like that going forward with newer releases.

Fully agree that Fourte looks amazing ... it is just that having something low key has an advantage, in particular in big cities where thieves have started targeting any expensive gadgets .. phones, laptops, IEMs and headphones, etc..
Aside from that I agree that Fourte as it is looks just great with its orangy/coppery finishing.
(... in all cases what matters to me is the sound and wear-comfort, not the shininess of the look)
