It seems that there are only a few on this forum who have had the opportunity to purchase the 600 ohm version of dt990 and dt880. Although there’s quite a bit of amount regarding the 250 ohm versions, there seems to be less information about the 600. So, how exactly do dt990 and dt880 differ in terms of sound (details, clarity, lows, mids, highs, soundstage, etc)?

Well, I've owned both - sold the dt880/600, and retained the dt990/600 (which absolutely require Meier Prehead Mk II for the minimalist). I prefer X-Deep Darths, and/or Joe Grado HP-2, or Grado RS-1/Alessandro MS Pro over the dt880/600. My music preferances are Jazz/Classical (Sym./Opera). While the dt880/600 (and, superior to dt880/250) are just fine.......these others are superior IMO. Pls. use your own ears. Whilst listening to Symphonies - I like modded k340.

QQQ, I wanted to know specifically about the 600 ohm version, hence my title "600 ohms"

Those are available via manufacture? It's no different since enclosures are the same as 250ohm versions.

Using the MANUFAKTUR link on the beyerdynamics web site, you can now get 600 Ohm (and colied cord) consumer models of the 770, 880, and 990 (previously available only in the pro line). You can also upgrade the leather and choose custom colors.

Consumer models are more comfortable than pro (for me at least), since the clamping factor of the headband is less.

Right now I own both pro 880/250 and consumer 880/600. Just as BushGuy says, the 880/600 beat the 880/250 on overall SQ, no question.

I have not heard the 990's so I can't answer the OP's real question, but in general here the reviews of the new 880/600 have been glowing, so why not go this way? And enjoy pimping out your model on the web site.
