After burn-in, I think my 595s don't drive at high volume of bass

HD595 IS bass-shy in a way...
You could try to eq (do so by taking down all other frequencies but bass or you will get eq distortion), and it can add some punch. If you do like lots of strong bass though, consider different headphones ^.^

Eeeek!!!
Bass is perhaps prominent in the soundsignature of HD595, but it definetly lacks punch. Try putting a slight boost to 50-70Hz area. (meaning, cut the other frequencies, but leave 50-70Hz area near zero line.)

How would the bass compare to the SR60?

If you download SRS AUDIO SANBOX or DFX which setting direct goes on any mp3 player and work well with PC. Both having lots bass options and it turn the music in real bass heavy but without missing details. So i hope these setting will work well with HD595.....

This is my discovery:
At first, with my 595's, I didn't think their was a lot of bass at all. That was when I was using a Sony CD player.
After I upgraded to my current Rotel RCD-02, the bass is significantly more prominent and in your face.
So, in other words, I think the quality of your source has a lot to do with the range of audio sent to your ears.
If you get an amp, try getting an impedence adaptor for your 595's, this will accentuate the lower frequencies. (But only do this after you get an amp or else you wont be able to drive them)

I was in the same boat. Got rid of the HD595s, bought the HD650s...couldn't be happier.

650 + AMP = $

I've no problem with my 595s, i just think they become stronger.
