Loved the video! I especially loved that you used the 800S as a reference for it, since I own that headphone. But now I hate you because you made me want to buy the adx5000.

Haha, can't help you with that one. I'm honestly considering it myself. The HD800 S is a wonderful headphone but for my ears I enjoyed the ADX5k more.

That is such a bold statement! The 800S is one of my favorite headphones ever. So the fact that you like the ADX5K more, is an incredible endorsement. I’m going to keep these on my radar while I wait for the Senn 820 to be released.

Has anyone been able to compare the ATH-ADX 5000 with the Focal Clear?
I used to own Focal Clear. ADX5000 reaches far below in sub-bass compared to Clear. Since I listen to lots of female vocals (mainly jazz), mid section is very important. To my ears, ADX5000 has excellent body in the mid section, while Clear has a bit leaner mid (or clearer more clinical). Extension of high is great on both but ADX5000 is slightly better. But to me, the most important difference is that ADX5000 sounds so natural throughout the frequency. Also timbre is always right to my ears with ADX5000. Clear sometimes sounds a bit artificial or off in the timbre department. Sound stage is wider and imaging is better with ADX5000. Overall, ADX5000 surpasses Clear in all aspects, to my ears. YMMV.

How does the ADX5K compare to your Ultrasone Edition 15?

The differing opinions on whether the HD800S or ADX5000 is more sibilant are interesting. Are there any objective measurements of the ADX5000 available? I was unable to find any via Google.

I'm debating either buying a HD800S again or trying the ADX5000 if I don't end up liking the Auteur. Might not have it for another month or so. When I originally had the HD800S I used it with a NFB28 and then a Bimby + Valhalla 2. At times I thought the bass could use a little more weight and that the treble could be a bit harsh. Now that I have an Onyx + Kenzie Encore I think my setup likely will have better synergy with the HD800S for my preferences and potentially the ADX5000 too. Particularly through the 300ohm tap which is surprisingly excellent.
No charts I’m aware of yet. I too am interested to see a chart comparison.

How does the ADX5K compare to your Ultrasone Edition 15?
Technically, ADX5000 is better than Edition 15 in all departments (very similar to the comparison above with Focal Clear). But Edition 15 wins hands down on the design aspect. Both HPs are light enough but the fit is clearly better with Edition 15 for me. I mentioned somewhere in this thread about the creak or clicking noise coming from the hanger connection on ADX5000. It's not frequent but when I hear it it's certainly distracting. Edition 15 has mysterious and indescribable charm. Therefore, I am not going to sell Edition 15. But if I'm forced to choose only one out of these 2, I will pick ADX5000. They are really good to my ears. YMMV.

Why would you sell the headphone that has "mysterious and indescribable charm"?

I said NOT going to sell. I wanted to emphasize the fact that I like Edition 15 even after finding them technically inferior to ADX5000.

But if you were forced to sell one, you would choose the technically superior over the mysterious and indescribable charm?
That is correct. Techs win over charms, for me.
