2017 Audio Technica new flagship ATH-ADX5000

Hey few of my friends have ordered Forza Noir HPC Mk2 for ADX5000 which is a pure copper cable. Audio-Technica stock & balanced cable are also pure copper. Hybrid cable that contains silver will not be good for ADX5000 due to its stock tuning. I am also getting FAW cables & pigtail extender. According to them, bass & lower mids have gained good body with FAW hpc mk2 cable.

Sharing some pics of cables that my friend bought for his adx5000.

Please see leather pads.

Almost 4 people have purchased ADX5000 after me & all use non fenestrated leather pads.

Do you have a link for the pads? I find the stock pads extremely comfortable as is.

Can anyone provide a comparison to the AD1000-2000X? I've been waiting for Currawong to get a pair for a formal review but he hasn't been able to so far it seems...
Zeos' no way helpful enough for one, despite him owning the 2k~... Still entertaining to watch tho.

Hmm? Sure some hadn't just sell you a demo model there? I hear the demo ones really is notorious for its creaking issues, which seems to have been mostly fixed in the final product.
My friend has Ad2000x. We had compared both on a low- mid fi setup. One area in which adx5k destroys ad2kx is the bass(both quantity & quality). I consider ad2kx as upper mids & treble can. Adx5k is more airy, spacious, faster, better transients, extended on either side. Adx5k is a complete upgrade over ad2000x in all dept including comfort. Also, adx5k has impedance of 420 ohms which is really helpful especially with desktop tube amps. Ad2kx hiss like anything even on SS amp with high OI. My friend is determined to upgrade in near future.

I'm just researching now and deciding what cable to 'upgrade' to even though I don't mind the stock cable, but I would like something around 5ft for portable use because I can drive this out of my DragonFly Red amp. I might end up going for one of Forza's cheaper copper option, but the WyWires Red is known for increasing bass impact so that has me curious.

But I hear the ADX5Kis much more neutral in tuning? Does it still able to reach the magical female vocal/upper mids presentation the AD2KX is famous for?

I appreciate the frequency responses here... but according to them my ADX5000 should be downright unlistenable because of the mid-upper treble. I don't hear this from my headphone whatsoever.

Maybe I need to send my pair to someone to see if there is a difference or something?

Regarding the mid-upper treble, if you look at the comparison HD800S, there's a 4kHz peak that only exists on the MiniDSP EARS. Jude's measurements of the HD800S do not show a peak. If we compensate for this error in measurement, then the 4kHz peak for the ADX5000 is only around 88dB which is only a slight +4dB elevation over 84dB. Since it's less than 5dB it is noticeable but does not make the ADX5000 unlistenable.

Here's some measurements in a Korean website that uses much better measurement equipment than me. There is some 4kHz extended elevation, but it isn't as exaggerated as my measurements.

Here's a new compensation that I subjectively tweaked based on my preferences.
(Since I'm used to hearing the HD800S, I basically just tweaked the 1kHz to 4kHz to make it flat when used on the HD800S. This is not the proper method, which is supposed to be 30 degree speakers with HRTF function).

The pairing with tube amps like feliks audio euforia , auris audio headonia/nirvana , EC zana deux is sublime...

Alll the above amps have the cleanliness, dynamics of SS and musicality of tubes.
The Soundstage depth and width increases... there is no background noise..

The pairing with audio technica's flagship hybrid DAC/AMP HA5050 is the one of the best.. sadly its discontinued...its very expensive as well...

I would personally go for a hybrid setup or a tube amp which has the character of a SS amp... the transparency, speed, transient response and airiness is very addictive and a lesser tube amp negatively affects this..
