Hey few of my friends have ordered Forza Noir HPC Mk2 for ADX5000 which is a pure copper cable. Audio-Technica stock & balanced cable are also pure copper. Hybrid cable that contains silver will not be good for ADX5000 due to its stock tuning. I am also getting FAW cables & pigtail extender. According to them, bass & lower mids have gained good body with FAW hpc mk2 cable.

Almost 4 people have purchased ADX5000 after me & all use non fenestrated leather pads.

How's the forza cable in terms of microphonics? Looking for an aftermarket solution as well since I find the stock cable really prone to microphonics

I think Zeos described soundstage once and said, "It's like you're wearing a big helmet." I'd describe it as such, like a big bubble. Terrific width AND height AND depth, but most importantly depth in my opinion. It has all of the ticks marked off which is what I like most. Nothing is compromised. Everything works together seamlessly to provide an all-encompassing sound that surrounds one's head.

I hope this makes sense.
I guess I'd say it's like the HD 800, just not as wide .. closer to an HEKv1 or v2 yet a bit wider and more holographic.

Has anyone tried the ADX-5000 with the Bryston BHA-1?

I´m a happy owner of ATH-ADX5000 and I have friends (two) with BHA-1 and it is a really amazing partner of the ATH´s, really amazing.
But don´t forget the source, the most important link in the chain (in my opinion).

I tried 5000 with mytek brooklyn dac today. crystal clear sound very crisp. the alcantara pads were not comfortable for my ears though. real shame. i don't find it easy to make hi end cans fit me well. i'm too sensitive or maybe because i'm used to real leather pads on my pm1.

Which amp do you guys use to run the ADX 5000? I find that I need to be on the highest gain on the Violectric V100. I'm looking to find an amplifier that will give me more head room. Any suggestions around the $500 range?

I haven't tried it but I want to believe that the La Figaro 339 would work well

Anyone using Hugo 2 with these?

Nice combo in low to mid level volumes, very clean sounding and magical in high frequencies, though i think HUGO2 is a bit short in terms of pushing them to their perfect performance. I am getting a tube amp to see if they sound better.

Haven't really A/B them but from what I remember from my listening sessions (amping with ZH1ES & HUGO from Macbook):

Detail retrival: ADX5K
Bass accuracy: slightly more accurate in ADX5K
Bass quantity: K812 wins
Soundstage: K812 wins
Mids: Similar though adx5k has closer vocals
Highs: ADX5K hands down

I do think that K812 is more versatile than ADX5K with my current set up.

I’m finding that the ADX has better bass quantity than quality. Everything sounds a bit one note in the bass.

Is anyone having a similar experience?
