Are the Dekoni pads that you recommend for the ADX 5000 easy to install?
If you are installing first time then there is a slight learning curve. Afterwards, its a cake walk.

What would you say the difference is between an HD 800 with an SDR modification and an ADX 5000?
I have compared HD800SDR with ADX5000 on my setup. There is a slight improvement in low end with attenuation of 6k peak.Btw, it does not come close to adx5000 bass performance.
Sennheiser only has a wide soundstage as compared to adx5k, that's it. AT takes the lead in terms of speed, dynamics, transients, overall resolution, imaging. Sennheiser sounds veiled, slow etc ... to me...ADX5000 are the most unforgiving cans that i have ever tried after 009.

Do you know any female connector to make adapters? I would like to share cables between headphones.
I could only find adapters so take a look at A4 / B5 / C4 here

Similar stuff below

And then there are some sockets / jacks for modifying headphones

A2DC to MMCX wouldn't be too bad if the MMCX connector used isn't too bulky. I have an aftermarket cable with regular A2DC, but it doesn't look as nice as the stock ADX5k connector or the connectors on that cable on the previous page.

I just made the jump to getting these after extensive demoing. What attracted me first and foremost is the sound - extremely fast and clear but I would also give props to AT for making the headphone so light!
Congrats!
What dac/amp are you using with adx5k?

I previously only used IEMs so my source is basically just an ifi nano BL (for now at least).
Okay... you have made very good decision. Adx5000 is TOTL can. They scale very well.
Do try leather pads as i have mentioned in previous posts.

Yes I do believe a very good amp can make them shine even more so. I have heard them out of a Caiyin HA300 briefly and was definitely floored by the sound! Are there good pairings around the $1000 range?

I had tried feliks audio echo, espressivo mk2 tube amps...it was wonderful...these make adx5000 shine...

Got this cable from an eBay seller, and the build quality is fantastic. Maybe I should take better pictures.

It's a simple 4 pin XLR cable that I got because I switched over to a ZH1ES. Looks great and is nice and quiet. No more microphonics from the stock and ZMF cables I have.

Can I get someone to measure the dimensions of the earpads on the ADX5000? Specifically earpad opening diameter, diameter of the full earpad, and thickness.

Are you planning to build custom earpads?
I am using Dekoni Sheepskin non fenestrated leather pads. Just mail dekoni for proper measurements. There was no mention of dimensions on the ear pad box.

No, I'm thinking of getting ADX5000 earpads for an HE-6 depending on the dimensions. Currently using Dekoni AD elite velours and the bar going across the driver touches my ear somewhat.

Edit: If you still have the original pads of the ADX5000, can I get you to measure the dimensions that I mentioned in my other post? Doesn't have to be exact but just within a couple of mm.

I realize that this is a long shot, but anyone here in the US that may be willing to lend me ADX5000 earpads so that I can try them with my HE-6? I got the dimensions from someone else on Reddit and they seem to be what I'm looking for, coming from Dekoni AD Elite velour pads. However, new ADX5000 pads straight from Audio Technica US are about 135 USD and that's a lot for me going into them blind.

If you decide, however, to send me the headphones, I can measure your ADX5000 on my MiniDSP EARS.

I'll pay shipping both ways (in the US), and I'll ship them back within a day or the same day after measuring and some listening. I'm in MN. I have seller/buyer feedback here on Head-Fi if that sparks some confidence.
