I am going to keep mine short, so top 5 in no real order:

1) Antony and the Johnsons, The Crying Light
2) Sunset Rubdown, Dragonslayer
3) Bat for Lashes, Two Suns
4) Grizzly Bear, Veckatimest
5) Andrew Bird, Noble Beast

Animal collective was awesome, also, but it hasn't stayed with me like their last, Strawberry Jam, did, so I can't give it a top 5.

Serengeti - Dennehy (Lights! Camera! Action!). Technically it was released in 2008 I think, but it was so slept on that I'm calling it in 2009. (I am not talking about Dennehy, the 2006 proto-release).

Been listening a lot to the new Manic Street Preachers, so that's probably the one for me right now. Journal for Plague Lovers. Not quite as dark and heavy as The Holy Bible (what is?), but does harken back to those times, maybe with a more refined viewpoint, more varied for sure with a mix of ballads, not as raw, nor as amazing, but still one of the best I've heard this year.
