If the receiver has a digital in, I'd use the receiver for both amp and DAC and spring for a used HE-6 and mod them. Give us your receiver model number.
It's cheap and like 8 years old, it only has a pair of rca inputs, a 3.5 headphone output and some speaker outputs

So you definitely need a DAC/amp that has multiple inputs. The Audio-GD NFB-11 that Purple Angel mentioned early on in this thread has three switchable digital inputs: optical, usb, and coaxial. So you'd be able plug up both your devices. It also has a pre-amp/line out for the DAC, so you could then run that to your receiver for use with your speakers.
I see what you mean now. I wouldn't refer to that as decay, just as loose/flabby bass. It was confusing because a lack of decay, which actually exists on a record, is a flaw in my book. I get it now.
