There are different modem speed standards, but considering Jakarta's infrastructure, we will assume that we need not care about it as the speeds won't be anywhere near speed standard anyway and you know what you are paying for.
So plugging it in, do your speeds stay the same?
do multiple trials and compare and check it out.

The real way assumes implying your setup, Jakarta's infrrastructure and other things.
So I will say no.
If your computer is using Wifi and is in good range without chicken wire or other things that can hurt it and the directly plugged into modem speeds are the same. Then you need not use DD WRT.
DD WRT are more for project stuff. Like VPN setup, more wifi range(at cost of exploding it), more wifi security features possibly, firewall features, DMZ and allowing what computers to take access or priority, DNS advanced stuff
ARe just some of the cool things, its used for. So while on some networks, it can be used to get better speeds up to what you pay for and will get directly from modem, generally, it will not really change wifi speed on home networks that don't get to around 20-40Mb/s
Testing is only really needed if you are getting less than 25% of what is promised(nothing is ever promised btw) ALWAYS and not just sometimes.
If you pay for 5Mb/s and that is what you get. You need not care for any of getting DD WRT if you do not care for using its features. You can pump more power into the antenae with it, but that will super heat your router.
