Differs state to state but supermarkets generally don't sell alcohol in Australia. The big supermarkets do run their own branded liquor stores though.

I wonder, what are the taxes on alcohol like in Australia? In the Netherlands they are pretty high. Although still nothing like Norway and Sweden, there you should be ready to pay 5 euros for a can of beer, in the supermarket.
For comparison:
A liter of fairly cheap liquor (gin, whiskey, jenever, etc.) costs about 15-20 euros here.
